Yanchusart's Army Progress - Updated 03/09/2017 - Pic Heavy
Hey guys.
I just started the daunting task of painting my forces. I am starting with Glade Guard and moving my way onto Glade Riders, Eternal Guard, and so on. I want to stick with the Autumn theme and will be doing the bases (Glade Guard) as soon as I complete the painting. I want to start and finish the Glade Guard before moving on becuase they are my "trial" run. So I can see what works and what doesn't as I go.
I also seperated my Glade Guard into three goroups as I paint- Red, orange and yellow cloaks. Whatever color I paint the cloak, I am painting the fletchings on the arrows the same color as well.
Any comments/advice/criticism is greatly appreciated.

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
Thanks Aemir_II. I am going to be taking some better photos soon- I am about three quarters done the Glade Guard and just recieved my basing materials in the mail. I am excited/nervous about the basing but I don't think it will be too complicated.

Thanks paralee. Sorry for the confusion, are you saying I should make a platform and post the colors I used?

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
Here is another picture of some of my Glade Guard (yellow cloaks). Right now I am working on the Orange cloaks and they are just about ready for highlighting.

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
Some more progress on the Glade Guard. Finished the orange cloaks and now just finishing the bows. After that, painting the little straps/lace details. Finally then onto the red cloaks. Waiting for my autumn basing material from the UK. Should clean everything up quite nicely.

Thanks Baardah! I am anxious to move on to my Glade Riders, but I am remaining patient. I know that if I start to rush things, I may not be as happy with the turnout.Baardah wrote:Looking great.

nice! I have always loved the vivid colors of the autumn theme. I ultimately ended up painting mine in the classic summertheme and now I always look with envy on the awesome autumn elves out there..

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
You can always do a couple of units in a different theme.
The fluff surely allows for this.

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
I grew up in Northern Ontario (Cottage Country) so Fall there was always so bright and vibrant. That's what I am trying to replicate in my painting- the bright and bold colors.tinkertee wrote:nice! I agree. I was thinking of doing some units with a "winter" vibe. I will ulitmately have the Autumn theme, but maybe some units "leading" into the winter.nXken wrote:You can always do a couple of units in a different theme.

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
I grew up and live in the same area too!
The fall colors are one of the things I missed most while living in B.C. for 5 years.
You absolutely nailed it on your color scheme!!!

Hey, they are very neat and eye-pleasant. But one is crying for scar-cleaning (the right one with his hood)

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
Thanks Aemir_II. A scar cleaning? The line that's down his hood? How do I get rid of those? With a model knife or something?Aemir_II wrote:Hey, they are very neat and eye-pleasant. But one is crying for scar-cleaning (the right one with his hood)
Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
You can use a modelling knife or even sandpaper! I use a combination of both. But i found for the glade guard sandpaper works well as they are easy reach mould lines. Be sure not to use something with a coarse grit. I wish I knew the proper terminology.

Re: Yanchusart's Army Progress
Tried to take a couple of photos....with a cell phone. Going to try and get my hands on a decent camera and take proper photos but these will have to do.
Pictured here are my yellow and orange cloaks; I am almost done with the red cloaks. There are 45 Glade Guard that are painted and I will be adding another 18 or so when I am done with the reds. Not sure if I am going to paint some command units, but if so that will also add a few models.

You mixed up some of the male torsos with female head and legs. I like the colors though.

Thanks Koji. I actually bought a brush that I literally only use for eyes. That way it stays nice and intact.

Wait there are male and female legs?? Well guess all my guys are a jumbled mess
Very neat paint job, i like the lines and the colours work well, looks fantastic, do you have a plan for basing them?
