Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
What are people using for mounted wood elf mages? The only mounted wood elf mage I've come across is the old 5th edition male wizard on horse.
Does anyone have some options/conversions they've done to represent this model?

I'm struggling with sculpt atm. Got two H.E. Steeds from chariot. Now doing some greenstuff magic... doesn't go quite as I imagine it Other vice, there is no official wood elf spellcaster mounted. You'll have to either convert it from other army or bought alternate figure. There is somewhere quite decent guide to alternates on this forum. (can be found even via google)

You could always put Sister on a Glade Rider horse.

I found an old Truthsayer of Albion model from way back when, chopped him in half and added him to an old wild rider horse and legs, looks pretty cool I think. I'll post a picture when I get time. Easy enough conversion though.

Yeah, I've got this one also... didn't realize there was no current option until this thread actually. Huh.Aezeal wrote:I have some old mage with an antler sort of staff.. it's from when I played 2 armie books ago
I converted a Great Eagle mage from Sister of the Thorn bits (left over when making Wild Riders) and Dark Eldar Hellion legs (so she's "surfing"), the same would work well for a mounted version I'm sure if you have a set of glade rider legs and mount for example.

I use an old Ral Partha model, an elven sorceress on a pegasus. She's tiny and looks like a child, but that's why I wrote her a backstory, lol.
Re: Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
I converted my Unicorn-mounted Spellsinger from the Fey Enchantress model, removing all the Fleurs-de-lis, adding some vines with greenstuff and swapping out the arm holding a goblet for the staff-holding arm from a Spellweaver. I also removed the Enchantress from the Unicorn she came with and put her on one of the ones released for Storm of Magic, which itself had a bow and quivver from the Glade Guard sprue added (fastened to a leather loop greenstuffed onto the Unicorn) and the tuft of mane under the chin removed.
I'm very happy with the results.

Got one of these currently winging its way to London from US. IMHO, it doesn't get much better. A little pricey at £60 ish with postage, but it's such a beautiful model - I think it's worth it.

Re: Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
Are there any good unicorn models out there with/ without riders? I'm interested in converting Spellweaver. I've only been able to find the Reaper ones which just look ok. Would a Sister of thorn fit or a converted dark elf sorceress fit on it?
Re: Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
Im actually having a tough time myself building one. Im using the Reaper unicorn which is great but the mage is tough to build. Im using our old glade lord legs (dragon rider) with the top half of one of those new floating weavers. Its hard to get the stubbier legs to look right. I will post some pics tomorrow to show what i have so far maybe it will spark an idea
Re: Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
The 5th ed mounted mage is easily obtained on eBay and fits on a unicorn or steed model very easily. It was a nice enough sculpt that it still stands well in the current army.

Re: Mounted Wood elf mage/wizard models?
Btw thanks for these images. Using the Dark Elf Sorceress upper body on a glade rider lower body was a great idea and she fits very well on there, I plan on doing something similar.vizier87 wrote:Here are my mounted characters... WIP!
