Artisan's Contest

Post by Scion of Fangor »

I was looking at the chaos dwarfs online forum. It would be quite cool (at least I think it would be :D ) to have a sort of rules contest. People come up with their own rules for a model/unit and then post them. The entries are judged on merit, how fun it is to play with, fairness etc. What do you guys think?

It is a great idea, as long as it isn't WE only.

Yeah this sounds fun. Writing a little backstory to your magic weapon and stuff.

I can certainly see the appeal of this. Using the existing criteria and format from Chaos Dwarfs Online would probably be the best way to organise this if it happens.

I am *so* up for this. Might want to set a point range for each category though.

I think that it would be better and more focused of we had a single theme, every two months or so, a bit like the painting competitions.

That's what I thought as well.

Being as you're already running the P&M Challenges AMA, shall I run this? :smirk:

I would prefer somone other than me do it, but I will do it if necessary. We can delegate tos to an interested party to reduce the load. :D

Yes, but someone else could do the woek and we could do the Modding bit. Go for it. I'd recommend something very basic and wood elfy to start with, addressing some perceived weakness or replacing something considered ineffective.

Got it in one. This is a WE site and this allows us to tap into creativity. Could be 'replace existing Wood Elf Special choice' . If you run it, you get to choose what you want, however, given the experience in P&M and in the Weald, I think a tight focus will help.

On the topic of competitions I wouldn't mind running a drawing/painting/whatever one once Nag's competition for the songbook cover is finished, not sure how much popularity this would have though

And I like the sound of this artisan's contest

In regards to createing a new kindred must the kindred be playable or are we free to create just background Kindreds?

Being as you know what the contest is, you should also have seen the required criteria for the entry. It requires both fluff and rules.

Any further questions please ask in Rules and Guidelines thread.

For those who haven't found it yet, the entry thread can be found here. Please read both the entry thread and the Rules and Guidelines thread before posting in either.

Well I didn't, someone asked what kindred I was going to make then I asked what the rules :smirk:. But I guess I'll have to think long and hard about entering. Background creation nets me instantly, rule making turns me away faster than the rising sun .
