Well Heylo everyone,
Picked up some wood elves the other day (impulse buy, natch) and decided today was as good a day as any to paint them up. Probably because its raining so much =p
Anyhow this model is a 'test' model so to speak for the rest of an army, and as such its my first painted Warhammer model. (My only other foray is a few cruddy space marines years ago lol)..
I'm Quite Pleased with how the Blue and Green Came out, but I'm Looking for C&C on how I can improve!

Pretty nice, good colour scheme, decent highlighting. Great for a first model! My only advice is, correct me if i'm wrong but, it looks like you tried some NMM on the spear which is fine but the colour change needs to be much more gradual if you want it to actually look like metal..it kinda looks like stone atm. Also, i guess it's personal preference but i hate the grassy base...is that how you want all your wood elves to be based? If you're going for grass at least use some clumps of longer grass or something to make it look less like astro-turf .
Re: First Wood Elf =]
NMM? Lost me there lol.. I was gonna just do it in Silver, but it looked to shiny so I tried Grey/White with a hint of blue, the pic makes it out darker then it is, and it doesn't look like stone in reality lol.
As for the base my brother did actually mention it looked like astroturf so I see if I can get some modelling grass or somthing to make it look less artifical.
Cheers,

NMM = Non-Metallic Metal. The technique of using "regular" paints to represent metal, and use highlights instead of the paints shiny elements.

I personaly think it works best if you adleast use 2 different materials on your base, an d if possible 2 contrasting materials too! Like some sand (wich you might want to ink brown and drybrush with bubonic and bone) and some patches of static grass or snow or something!
Keep up the good work!

Not bad for a first attempt, but try to be more gradual with your highlighting. In places (the bracer, the cloak, possibly somemore) the highlighting is so extreme that it looks a bit goofy.

A shame with the dark pic's.. Any who, gotta start somewhere. Its a good first timer, but I think you would get more out of it, with painting a less complicated model like a Glade guard, to try diff. techincs. Dont get me wrong, your off for a good start.
Else i agree with Hyarion on this one. If you have any quations, ask away, we would be more than happy to help.
