New Forum Names
As the forest of Athel Loren is in constant change, as is Asrai.org. In a small celebration of our 18th month birthday, I have changed the forum names to be a bit more fluffy. There are a few I am still not veyr happy with, so feel free to use this thread to make suggestions to better names as these were written off the top of my head (with some help from the kind people in the chatroom).
I have also (as announced earlier) merged the RPG forum with the Fluff & Stories forum in an attempt to make them both more active.

So... the forums are going back to the old names once the celebration's over, right? These new names are kind of odd.

They look out of place. And having given myself six hours to think about it... they're still odd.Schmeag wrote:I guess they're odd because you're not used to them.

Whilst I agree that they certainly could be embellished and some of the forum names don't seem to match with each other, I still think that you'll get used to them eventually. After all, as humans, we're supposed to be an adaptable race. I used to complain the hell out of some of the other forums when I joined because things were a little odd. As of now, I don't really give much of a notice to the features that I used to consider odd.
It's weird, but it seems to work for me.

I Guess it's the similarity of the names that is a Problem here ...
Sure, it's no real problem, but you have to really read it before you get it. So differentiating and using one-time names like "Call of the Hunt" sure will help the normal user.
For newbies it just needs a bit more effort to know where to go ...
So, in my opinion - keep the new names, but try to evade too similar names "The Glade of ...", etc.
Pool, Meadow, Glade, Hall, Call are a good start.
Hm... how about Gathering of Tales or Tree of Honours ??
Just to differentiate ?
Cheers !

Actually, elves are traditionalists who dislike change. After all, as humans, we're supposed to be an adaptable race.

I agree on the names being too similar to eachother. The only thing I really found confusing though was "The Glade of Armies". I assume that this forum is for Asrai army lists only and other armies lists goes into "The Outer Fields". If this is correct, then in my opinion either the name or the description of the forum should indicate that.

Somebody that agrees with me.KidA wrote:I find those new names...odd. I guess it takes time to get used to them, but I prefered the old, more direct and clear approach.

I dunno. With all the forums so close together, it's really confusing. I can hardly find the art forum anymore.

It certainly confused me when I arrived back after a short absence from Asrai.org! I had to spend a while working out what everything was!!
I like the idea of fluffy names, but these do take a bit of getting used to - giving them a 'probation period' is a good idea, so to evaluate them at the end of the month seems like a good idea.
