home made Tree-kin (W UPDATED PICS)
Actually, ... this guy i made about 4 years ago for Mordheim. He was my possessed guy for my possessed war band.... go figure! and yes, .. they were possessed tree spirits. Anyways,... i gave up on Mordheim and rebased him. He's often been my treeman and get a lot of comments in tourneys.
his made entierly out of sprue (GW sprue!... he's legal!) and the Orc thingy from a chariot. I had another one of these guys but i did'nt like the face... lost now i guess.
But... these guys can be scratch made!

The lighting and background make him very hard to see. While he looks good, could you please try to get some different pictures so I can give more comments.

How did i make him?.... take sprue, ... and start glue'n. For finger joints i cut slivers of those round tube like parts on the sprue.
And yes... now that i have a good look at the photo.. he's really hard to see.
He looks alright in person..... and a unit of 3 would be quite original. Just trying to share ideas.
Cheers~!

pretty cool, and fluffy too. A lonly sprite was wandering about when he saw a bunch of creatures cutting apart his brothers so he embodied the items of the attackes to assult them, i like it. mabye you could build kin that were made of different armies cutting up loren. mabye half made lances for brets.

The Orc totem thingy....ya...... remember i built this thing for Mordheim. The only other faces i've used for these guys was a shield that had a skin cover over it that looked like a face. Finding something that looks like a head of some sorts is the key to scratch making a tree-kin.
Green stuff would work too. When using this model on the battle field, you really don't notice that his head in no thicker than a slab of lumber. You could possibly combine acouple of extra pieces or heads from the dryad sprue and basically make a "bigger" dryad. That would work in eyes.

I think it is quite good as well. Now with the better pictures you can really see him much better. I like how you made cheap and effective treekin without wasting all of that extra plastic that GW is charging $40 for. Overall a nice and creative idea that I might have to try myself.

So I've finished my first..
He is about 5 or 6 inches tall, but he is really skinny, which fits my army well, cause my army is from Pine Crags. The problem is that he doesn't look very tough enough to be a treeman, but he's too tall to be a treekin. He has alot of greenstuff issues, which hopefully I can work out when the greenstuff dries. I'll also try to bulk him out, but overall I'm pleased. His head looks really cool, he has 1 big eyeball made out of an airsoft pellet(He really is made out of random stuff....and sprue.)
I'll make a thread after He dries and is bulked up/greenstuff is carved to look better...
PS. The hardest part was the greenstuff work. It is really hard to get an "Angular" wood type look to greenstuff. I'm going to let it dry, and then hopefully "chisel" it to look like wood.
