Finally got round to finishing him.

This log is now almost finished. I have no plans to expand my wood elves further.

The only thing I might do is treat you to some of the stuff that I have had painted a while but haven't taken photos of. Nothing is particularly specially painted or converted though. Maybe my unicorn wizard but that's about it.

Its been fun and I hope that I have inspired as many people who have inspired me.

Beautiful army man! I love all the conversions. Thought I was being original when I bought the witch elves to convert into wardancers. There's just so much more motion and energy in those models, and the poses are a lot more natural than the official wardancers! Also loved your waywatchers, gluing the seeds on the capes was a great touch! I'll probably follow suit. Consider me inspired! :D

Full army shot. Complete with retro wall paper. (forgot my glade riders and dryads though)

http://i1314.photobucket.com/albums/t57 ... j6ny6w.jpg

Top left: Scouts
Bottom Left: Wardancers
Middle Left: Wild riders
Back Left: Treeman Ancient
Characters (front centre) from left to right: Glade captain on steed, Shadow dancer #1, Shadow dancer #2, Spellweaver on Unicorn, glade captain (Spear), spellsinger, glade captain (GW), Glade Lord on Dragon, Stag rider, Waystalker,
Back Middle: Eternal Guard
Back right: Treeman
Middle right: 2x Glade Guard
Front right: waywatchers
Top right: Warhawk riders
Far right: Eagle Captain
Hiding in between the Warhawks and glade guard: Great eagle.

Had my last game with my woodelves. Can't see myself playing them again unless the AoS rules are good. We will see.

Its been fun guys :)

Looks great man!! Beautiful army. Not to steer conversation away from your WEs but in response to your unhappiness with AoS, check this thread out.

Lovely army though. I hope you can find a way to field it!

That looks like someone put a lot of work into it. I'm not a fan of the math that was employed, it's feels too arbitrary. That makes me think that this is a case of someone trying to turn AoS into what they want it to be, rather then expanding upon what it actually is. Changing 'Battle Shock' so that it counts wounds instead of slain models, for example, shows an attempt to fix what the author doesn't like rather then attempting to find what they would like.
Also, I did so much math with that 'first' point-cost algorithm
[ (wounds + attacks) x (movement +bravery) / save ]
and I really liked how those numbers looked. Maybe it's just personal bias, but I'm not for approving this one.

Not to turn the blog into a moan about AoS. But just to clarify where I am:

I am not unhappy. The rules look okay. I haven't played with them yet but there are some things I like and some I don't. But my gaming group is happy with 8th ed and we are going to continue with it for the near future. After having played with and now completed my Woodelves over the last 9 months I am switching back to high elves for the time being (just for a change).

I think that AoS will breath life into a stagnating hobby. In the long term this is going to be great, but in the short term is going to cause rage from some and continuation of 8th in many circles (including mine).

That is not to say I wont play AoS. However if I do I will probably use it as an excuse to buy a new army rather than rebase (I know you don't have to, but squares just look silly if they aren't ranked up) my existing ones. Therefore it is unlikely that the Woodelves will get another run.

At the same time, that is okay for me, I got enjoyment out of them. I smashed some face with a forest dragon, ran around on a unicorn and pew-pewed stuff off the board.

AoS is not Warhammer but give me a while to read the fluff and see some more models/factions/rules and we will see. I'm just going to wait and see where the game and the community goes with it. The "comp" and points things are promising though.
