Hello there,
I was wondering if some people would like to show some ideas on how to create nice bases.
I'm currently not having such a well filled wallet so cheap but good ideas are very much appreciated.
What I'm looking for is ways to create rocks, hills and/or logs for models to be positioned on, on their bases.
I've been using green stuff to create small hills or rocks for units to stand on, but I feel like there might be better options.
I've seen some cool modeled bases from sciborg (if I'm remembering the company name correct) or other sources, but those are a bit too expensive for me so I'd like to find cheap ways to recreate such bases myself.
Ideas very much welcome!

Re: Help Wanted: Tips for basing (material)
Hi,
Hopefully I can help a bit. I've recently gone through a lot of materials for basing trying to find out what works and what doesn't:
- Cork: Cork is cheap and great for creating all manner of rocks and logs, it has a great texture which paints well. There are lots of guides for this online.
- Army Painter Tufts: These tufts of grass are much better than types of flock, they have a strong bond and stand up straight long term, there are various types. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1637698018
- Flower Tufts: Similar to above, these types of flowers can really bring your bases out if you match the colours appropriately. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271385151333? ... EBIDX%3AIT
- Leaf Scatter: These can look really effective on bases although they are quite tricky to stick on. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281477168262? ... EBIDX%3AIT
- Resin Tree Stumps: I got a handful of these and they made some the basing much more dynamic. http://elementgames.co.uk/paints-hobby- ... -stumps-11 http://elementgames.co.uk/paints-hobby- ... ree-stumps
I am still work in progress on these and although i've done my pre-basing I have not yet got a finished product to show you.

Hi,
I use a cheaper way for creating my bases which you can consider. I just use bark of trees that I've collected in the woods to create rocks and logs and works well for me.
Here are some examples
