The recent downtime
I wish to apologize for the recent downtime of Asrai.org, but it was fully necessary to get around some of the problems we have been having. Far from all of the problems have been solved, but we've gotten far closer to the finish line than before.
For instance, I bet most of you had noticed a few lines of error messages appearing above the site logo whenever you did a search on the site. That error should now be completely gone.
The skin/style/theme (call it whatever) have gotten a slight revamp. Many buttons have been given a mouse-over effect. I.e. some text now goes slightly green when you move your mouse over them. We've also gotten some new buttons with some profile settings. You can now add a link to your Facebook, your LinkedIn and your twitter if you want to.
Whenever you create a new account or change your current password, a password strength indicator will help you create stronger passwords.
The portal page is still not working as I would want to to be. That's another big project I will be forced to hard code by hand at a later date. The CATPCHA has also been giving me a lot of errors, and I am looking into that. For the moment, I've been forced to use some of the older CAPTCHA settings, which could mean that more automated bot will show up. Hit the report buttons as soon as you see something that looks suspicious.
EDIT: I have already banned two bots. I also tried a different captcha system, which seems to have some issues with its server. Registration might be extra slow until they fix the problem on their part. But for now, I will not change to a less secure system.

Oh, and for the while being, the LEAF site is down. I will get back to that project soon. I just need to catch up with my real life as well.

Re: The recent downtime
Now the LEAF Site has come back online. As far as I can see, it looks like it should.
The registration CAPTCHA also seems to have been solved.

Anybody who would carp about site maintenance is a troll who needs to be sharply smacked over the snout with a rolled up Banner of Eternal Flame. We're lucky to have you Naggie. Don't forget to let us know when the website fee is due again.

I'm impressed with your efforts Naggie! Even though you're not really active on the site you still sacrifice both sleep and social life to fix problems few of us have thought much about.
Thank you for doing all this work!

Now the little icon next to the url is back up and running. It's not much, but progress is usually good.

As an FYI, some of the buttons are truncated in Safari. The "new pm" button is the one I noticed.

Try to refresh and force your browser to understand that things are not the same now as they have been for the last few years.
