Studio McVey - Ar-Fienel

Post by Silver »

Back in 2010 I was quite sad to have missed this limited edition model:
ImageImage

Limited to 750 casts it was gone quite fast and I only discovered Studio McVey after it had sold out!

But they made an Alt-version - "in combat" and I nabbed 2, one for the tabletop, one for the display.

O: Such a delicious model.
Now I just have to get my painting skills up to par~

That's a 30mm figure? Holy crap! If I bought that it would sit on my painting bench for the rest of my life waiting for me to get good enough to paint it.
So it's no longer the BRB, now it's the DERB. (Digital Edition Rule Book) I am all in for 9th Age.

I have both models after turning over every forum looking for an original for sale. She is tiny. Very compatible with our standard models tho.

AndYes, she too is sat on my desk waiting for me to get good enough!

Wow, she is lovely! I think I like this version even more than the original, so graceful!
I have also found this miniature that I also love.

Now... do I order them (when its's still possible!) even though I would never be able to do them justice?

Well since word got out that the eBay auctions went as high as $200 for an assembled & primed one (on the original 2010 model) people are, with good reason, asking even more for a pristine one - so crazy but I might just give in... Its just money after all and just like any rare art piece... you need money to buy 'em! O:

Is that Standard Bearer a McVey too?

Yeah, click the picture for the link to the McVey site where you can buy it.
Well, my ideas for the next book turned out to be a bust.
But it was still fun working on something of this scale.

Can't believe, but I think that's the same model! Only thing they did is to re-arrange body parts.
Look at her! Look at her face, legs, arms, dress (okay, dress is bit different)... its the same! It just has some different colors.

Ah, yes. You are right. I was just amazed how they used same parts for both models. :tear:

I order one a week ago, but have not received it yet. Anyone know how long it takes to get to the US?

I've bought a couple Studio McVey models and they are just AMAZING!

But be extra careful using them as gaming pieces as they break easy. The detail is very fine which thus means fragile as well.

I gave in and bought one on Barter Town for a good amount~ x:
But I'm paying way more for the commission work!

And so far, it is exquisite.

I'll have it in my hands in 3 weeks, and he said he still had touch-ups to do.
This one's not going to see the gaming table of course (:

Never posted back since then but I have the miniature now and it is sublime.
Now my goal is to work my painting skills to copy that color scheme onto the alt Ar-Fienel (action pose)

I know that painter. He did a master class in Vancouver this year and is one of the top Canadian painters.
