Weapons per character
How many weapons can a character actually carry. I would assume 2 combat weapons/1 two handed weapon/1 weapon and a shield, and a ranged weapon but I have not managed to get clarification of this from the rulebook.

Re: Weapons per character
Everyone has a hand weapon, they then can have an additional weapon such as a spear or greatweapon depending on the unit, and they have the options to take shields. So you are right in thinking that a character could have a hand weapon, additonal hand weapon or shield, additional weapon and ranged weapon (as far as I know). I dont know why you would want to do this in a game but I believe it is possible for characters.
Re: Weapons per character
In every character's armybook entry you find this information. For almoast all characters, they can take one item within each category :
- 1 set of armour ( light, heavy, ... )
- 1 optional combat weapon ( extra handweapon, lance, great weapon, .... )
- 1 ranged weapon ( bow, ... )
There is no actual limit on how much mundane gear a character can carry. But the limit is you can OR take a lance, OR a great weapon for example. That end that category and so on...

Re: Weapons per character
Characters can have unlimited weapons, but it's really kind of silly to take more than one or two Special ones because at the start of every combat you have to choose which weapon you're using for the entire combat, so the extra weapons you may carry around won't do anything. Also, if you take a magic close combat weapon you can't use anything except that weapon in close combat, so again, it's kind of pointless to take additional melee weapons you won't be using.
Well, my ideas for the next book turned out to be a bust.
But it was still fun working on something of this scale.

Re: Weapons per character
Exactly. I only wish to add that this stands for non-magical weapons; he can have only 1 magical weapon tough.Shandrakor wrote:Characters can have unlimited weapons...
Well, there may be ONE pretty good reason for this (and I saw that several times) - if you are on tourney which requires 100 % wysiwyg and you have (say) model of mounted noble with spear only (yep, that chaos wood elf from GW ) and you wish to field him with magical sword... Then you may wish and need to equip him with mundane spear, to fulfill the requirements. Also, if you take a magic close combat weapon you can't use anything except that weapon in close combat, so again, it's kind of pointless to take additional melee weapons you won't be using.

Re: Weapons per character
So...Heroes can only take 1 magic weapon
but does that count for magic items that are weapons? like an enchanted halberd

Yes and no.TwistedHonour wrote:So...Heroes can only take 1 magic weapon

They can take up to 1 magical weapon. They can also take up to 1 magical armor, up to 1 enchanted item and up to 1 talisman (uless you are chaos demon, where different rules apply). So if you will have (theoretically) a weapon which count as enchanted item, you may field it alongside "normal" magical weapon. Theoretically. In practice, you will need some FAQ / special rules to clarify how to deal with such situation.

So you can't stake magic armour with a magic shield?

Re: Weapons per character
A Shield is armor. So no, as both magic armor and a magic shield are the same category. You can only ever take 1 item from each magic item category.
