Snow bases?

Post by Shinobi »

Right. 'Tis might have been posted earlier, but how do you do snowy bases? I bought my first box o' dryads, and I have no idea how to base them.
What do you recommend?

Sand painted white with specks of light blue, or snow-flock made my GW. It costs $8 though, so sand might be better.

All I do is base it with sand and spray white.

The flock from gw have a very nice glow to it, it kind of sparkels like real snow, i will use it as frost on my army and scenery... :)

In case you don´t like GWs versions (like me), you can use baking soda mixed with pva glue for a nice snow effect. Just make sure to use slightly more pva glue than baking soda, as otherwise the paste gets too hard and not sticky enough.
It looks more or less like the number four type on the gw article, I just don´t want to buy extra snow flock if I can get the same look with baking soda and a little glue.

For an example you can look at the finished part of my beasts: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a119/ ... 1small.jpg

Thanks Mornedhel, it sounds like a reasonalbe method. I get both quality and quantity, thanks.

I use the method Mornedhel mentioned on my 40k tau and it works great, looks realistic too. This I recommend. I'll see if I can get a few pics up.
