Yeah it is better to ingnore athel loren but most of my army ignores difficult terrain anyway.

Il roll for my terrain then:
the 3 terrain rolls

2d6
1: 2 + 2 = 4
2: 5 + 2 = 7
3: 4 + 2 = 6
Ok well some forests for you there. 2 forests and a ruin.
If you want a can make the map later on tonight. But maybe tomorrow morning as im pretty stuffed with time so if you could do it that is great. Also how do you want the deployment to go? I dont mind just placing my units down in one bunch it makes it much faster.

Roll for sides after you've deployed your pieces, and again incase of re-roll

1d6
1: 2 = 2
2: 6 = 6

sum: 8, average: 4.00
So originally 2.

Sorry for delay i have a thesis due these days so i am frantically writing it up. Lots to still write and some more ideas i would like to cover as well but since i will be mostly writing it up now not reading i should be online.

Image
I tried to make it even and a bit fun also i hope you like it if not i can change. So we play both forests as normal forests to make it easier? This makes them wood elf terrain. Also feel free to make the forests larger. If you dont like the map at all feel free to change it. The rules for the boulders is just same as a hill i think in the description so i just placed a hill. The marsh is difficult terrain and the lake impassible?

Now for table sides:
my roll is 4
and a re-roll if needed is 1.

Nope, i'm fine with all that.

And fine i'll change the size of one woods.

So you choose top or bottom, your roll beats mine, and I can't place my woods or do hidden deployment until you select.

I thought to roll for it but i decided to take the bottom actually. I was not happy with the top ruling even tho i previously could not decide.

I have done my deployment at the bottom

2 = 2
Incase it's a tie:

Good luck to you too :)

Here are my moves:

Treeman will do treesinging on his woods (come on roll a 2 to dispell!).

Alter will take a shot at the white lions:
[10] 10-06-04 16:12:08 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Shooting a normal shot at the white lions with the alter (2+ to hit?). Do their cloaks give them -1 to hit or better AS?

1d6 >= 2
6 = 6 ... success
Hit anyways, rolling to wound:
[11] 10-06-04 16:12:36 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

roll to wound:

1d6 >= 4
2 = 2 ... failure
I just realized he marched this turn so discard all that...

So just treesinging dispell and your turn.

Dispelling with two dice
dispell treesinging

2d6 >= 3
4 + 4 = 8 ... success
You will make me roll that every time, wont you?

Ok my turn is pretty fast.
I will move the noble out of the SG unit into the white lion unit. And also move the cavalry slightly.
Image

In the shooting phase i will first shoot the red bolt thrower into your treeman.
Hitting on 3 and wounding on 4. I had wounding on 3 on dicelog but it is 4.
Hits and wounds the treeman!!!!!
That leaves you with a ward save.

Second bolt will shoot another bolt into your treeman.
Misses
There will also be 18 SG shots onto green dryads. All long range.
7 hits only
and 2 wounds only
.

Finally the noble will shoot your altar. Sadly im hitting on 4+ but it might be worth it. bs6, moved, single model, cover.
2 hits, yay
to wound rolld

1d6 >= 2
1: 4 = 4 ... success
2: 2 = 2 ... success
so two saves there at -2 so your saving on 6's unless i got something wrong.

SUMMARY:
one bolt at your treeman wounds and will do
1d3
3 = 3
, if you fail the ward save.
yay!!!!! I can hope here for half wounded treeman already.

2 wounds on your noble at S5 from my noble.

2 wounds on your green dryads from the sea guard.

I would say non-magical. The rules say "treat this as a normal longbow with the following exceptions - " magical attacks are not mentioned at all as one of the exceptions, and as a normal longbow does not have magical attacks neither does the Reaver Bow.

Sorry it's been a while since I have played High Elves, especially since after the new book came out.

So repeater bolt throwers can choose wheather to do multiple or single shot? and the single ones are at str 7 doing d3 wounds?

The bow that the noble has does 3 attacks (equal to his) at strength 5?

Also can characters fire after leaving, moving and entering units?

I'm not arguing anything, i'm just curious. Shoulda done a better job of placing the noble :(
[22] 10-06-05 13:10:33 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Dryad Ward saves

1d6 >= 5
1: 3 = 3 ... failure
2: 6 = 6 ... success

sum: 9, average: 4.50, success: 1/2 50%
1 dead dryad

Noble has 6+ armour, 5+ ward:
[23] 10-06-05 13:11:26 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Noble AS:

1d6 >= 6
1: 4 = 4 ... failure
2: 1 = 1 ... failure

sum: 5, average: 2.50, success: 0/2 0%

Noble ward save:
[24] 10-06-05 13:12:18 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Noble ward save (he is forest spirit right?)

1d6 >= 5
1: 2 = 2 ... failure
2: 1 = 1 ... failure

sum: 3, average: 1.50, success: 0/2 0%
Wow that sucks, looks like this game could be over real soon...
[25] 10-06-05 13:13:12 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Treeman ward save

1d6 >= 5
1 = 1 ... failure

Nope, so 1 dryad saved, and everything else goes through... Darn my squishy elves. That's all?

Let me answer your questions. It is perfectly alright to ask about any clarifications.

The repeater bolt thrower can do s6 big bolt or d6 s4 armour piercing bolts.

In the shooting phase i will first shoot the red bolt thrower into your treeman.
Hitting on 3 and wounding on 4. I had wounding on 3 on dicelog but it is 4.
Hits and wounds the treeman!!!!!

That leaves you with a ward save.
I meant wounds on 4 but i made a mistake on dicelog and clicked roll-again instead of roll. But message was a wounding roll. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah we should get a ruling on the noble after leaving a unit as i cant seem to find my rule book anywhere at the moment. Beithir? I think he can as he makes a move in the movement phase but i will look for my book and read the characters section. Also how come your noble has a ward save? Also im not sure if the unit he moved out of counts as having moved.

The bow does 3 s5 attacks even if on lord level character.

Re: WFO tourney: Bladeweaver_56 VS Bogi

Post by BladeWeaver_56 »

Sorry I don't have the rule book with me, and I thought the alter noble made him a forest spirit. Anyways it doesn't matter, cause he's a dead elf.

If the bolt is only str 6, the treeman would still have a 6+ armour save, which would count as the roll I did before. So therefore shouldn't I roll for his ward:
[26] 10-06-06 11:56:49 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Since the bolt thrower is only strength 6 (-3 AS), that last roll counted as his 6+ AS. Now for his 5+ forest spirit save

1d6 >= 5
5 = 5 ... success
So he's alright provided that is the case...

So my turn:

Treeman will do strangle roots on your archers. double all numbers, and a 6 is a misfire.
[27] 10-06-06 12:21:51 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

Treeman does the strangle roots on your seaguard:

1d6
1 = 1
Two hits, wounding on 3's:
[28] 10-06-06 12:22:27 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

wounding on 3's:

1d6 >= 3
1: 2 = 2 ... failure
2: 3 = 3 ... success

sum: 5, average: 2.50, success: 1/2 50%
1 wound at -1 AS. I'm just rolling in the kills :), lol

Your turn and terror.

Firstly my knights will charge the green dryads.
fear test:
fear test

2d6
1 + 5 = 6
they can charge.
So they turn 41 degrees which is under 4 inches. Then they move straight forward under 9 inches so they are in range. They ignore difficult terrain. They charge the closest model in the unit and consequently they are now in contact with your other unit of dryads. So by my understanding both of your units now must line up to me and fight.

The SeaGuard will move modles out of the front rank.

Shooting turn:
-The orange bolt fires into your far dryads as this is the only thing it can see as boulders block los onto your treeman.
5 shots, 2 hits, 1 wound.

- The red bolt will fire at your WarDancers. I just realised that bolt throwers are 6 shots not d6. ops. anyway from now on it is 6 shots. I dont have much experience playing high elves so i have forgotten how it works. Sorry about that.
1d6 >= 4
1: 6 = 6 ... success
2: 1 = 1 ... failure
3: 3 = 3 ... failure
4: 4 = 4 ... success
5: 2 = 2 ... failure
6: 3 = 3 ... failure

sum: 19, average: 3.16, success: 2/6 33%
2 hits so now 3+ to wound

1d6 >= 3
1: 6 = 6 ... success
2: 4 = 4 ... success

sum: 10, average: 5.00, success: 2/2 100%
2 ward saves there for you. 6+ from tatoos.

The Sea guard will now shoot your wardancers also.
10 shots hitting on 5'
Sea Guard at war dancers

1d6 >= 5
1: 1 = 1 ... failure
2: 6 = 6 ... success
3: 5 = 5 ... success
4: 1 = 1 ... failure
5: 5 = 5 ... success
6: 1 = 1 ... failure
7: 6 = 6 ... success
8: 6 = 6 ... success
9: 5 = 5 ... success
10: 1 = 1 ... failure

sum: 37, average: 3.70, success: 6/10 60%
lucky. wounding on 4's.
wounding on 4's

1d6 >= 4
1: 3 = 3 ... failure
2: 3 = 3 ... failure
3: 4 = 4 ... success
4: 5 = 5 ... success
5: 5 = 5 ... success
6: 3 = 3 ... failure

sum: 23, average: 3.83, success: 3/6 50%
so 3 more saves there.

Now for the finale!!!!!
My noble will target your wardancer unit also. Depending on how many wounds you have taken from previous turn you might have to randomise the hits there as some might hit your noble.

So
Noble onto wardancer unit.

1d6 >= 3
1: 4 = 4 ... success
2: 4 = 4 ... success
3: 1 = 1 ... failure

sum: 9, average: 3.00, success: 2/3 67%
2 hits and
to wound

1d6 >= 2
1: 6 = 6 ... success
2: 3 = 3 ... success

sum: 9, average: 4.50, success: 2/2 100%
2 wounds there but remember to also take your war saves.

Summary: 5 6+ saves to be taken by War Dancers. 2 more wounds on the unit after this and also saves to be taken.

Applologies bogi, but does your banner allow you to ignore difficult terrain?

I guess I shoulda asked before I lined up my dryads for an inrange double charge... <.<
Do you understand the rules for skirmishers and multiple charges?

Anyways here is rolling for saves:

Dryads:
[41] 10-06-06 23:36:10 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

1 Brown Dryad Save:

1d6 >= 5
5 = 5 ... success
He's good.

Wardances:
[42] 10-06-06 23:36:50 EDT - frost_monarch56@hotmail.com

7 wardancer saves, 6+:

1d6 >= 6
1: 1 = 1 ... failure
2: 1 = 1 ... failure
3: 2 = 2 ... failure
4: 5 = 5 ... failure
5: 3 = 3 ... failure
6: 1 = 1 ... failure
7: 6 = 6 ... success

sum: 19, average: 2.71, success: 1/7 14%
1 wardancer lives.

Wow i just realized highelves make a barbeque outta wood elves. Since we have no armour, our ability to outmanouver most armies and get the first charge is crushed by the ASF rule. Your shooting blows all my expensive units with low defense, and your combat units have spears or great axes to chop down my dryads, and first even when they charge :cry:
