Hello everyone (new to Asrai)

Post by northernskies »

Hey everyone,

I just found your site, my names Andy and I'm from the UK. I just wanted to say hello to everyone as I'm hopefully going to be fairly active on here. I used to play warhammer fantasy around 6 years ago - about the time that Chaos was re-released. Back then I used to play a Chaos army and then later a dwarven army. Last week I suddenly had an impulse to start playing again and walked to the local GW,after speaking with an assistant I wittled down my short list of armies from Dwarves, Bretonnia toWood Elves . I bought a unit of Glade Guard, a wood elf noble, rulebooks and paint etc. I've painted 8 so far of the glade guard and posted how they look, I've literally just started again after ages - so dont expect anything fantastic, but any tips etc would be welcome :) (I found the faces especially hard!)

Andy

The photo quality isnt great either because i did it on an Iphone :(

Andrew Northern (everyone calls me Andy)

Probably considerable, analytical and theorising :P however more dull that sounds

Guerilla type warfare sounds really fun to play, Huge ties to nature, Love the Lore

Yeah I like it - almost finished my first year:) I live near Asdas although I'll be moving out soon to a house near West park with a few friends. Night life is alright but not especially amazing, the Uni is really nice though:) Plus its one of the best Uni's for my course. Whereabouts do you live nowadays?

So what exactly is "War Studies"? I'm guessing it's basically what it says on the tin, but it's not a subject I've heard of before as a degree :D

West Park doesn't seem like too big a distance to move; will you be down by the lake end or closer to the ring road?

Nowadays I live over towards Cannock. About 6 miles away.

Yeah its kind of what it says on the tin haha but its not military history - we have to study all kinds of things that relate to war eg. economics, social change, politics, whether war is inherent in human nature etc..
So for example this year ive done modules on: International Relations, War and the modern world, battlefield command, the holocaust, globalisation, historiography, american studies :) Its really a mix bag of war, history and politics modules but usually everyone will have some relation to war in some way:). Kind of hard to explain but yeah basically just the study of wars haha

Sounds pretty interesting; the sort of thing I'd be interested in doing :D Maybe as a second degree :smirk:

And Wolverhampton isn't really my local GW. I usually tend to go to Walsall instead. They're probably about the same distance apart, but Walsall is usually easy for me to get to (plus parking is easier - I can usually get right outside the shop, whereas in Wolverhampton it's a bit more difficult and I still have to walk to King Street :smirk: )
