Nessa Nenharma's Defenders - UPDATED: New pics!

Post by Nessa Nenharma »

Aiya!.

I´m thinking on some thing to introduce myself in The Glade of Gathering, but i think that the best way is to show my Defenders!.

First of all: Sorry about my english writing, but i´m not an native speaker, so i have my limitations  .

I choose a dark colour scheme for these little elves. I wanted to give them a chromatic scale wich consist in purples, blues, peacock blue (?), etc. And for skins, i wanted to use a mixture of purple-elfskin (only purple have no "healthy" effect).

Well, the pictures:

My Hghborn!

Image

My Glade Riders:

Image
Image
Image

My Tree-kins: (here i wanted to investigate with a purple color instead of brown, maybe too purple :smoke: )

Image

My Tree-man: It was my first base. So i think it´s the best one i have  .
Image

But i chaged the brown for the purple one. What do you think about this change?
Image
Image

Some of my glade guard: (i made an movement base for them, but i don´t have photos right now):

Image
Image
Image

Mi first Eternal Guards (my firs NMM): (i didn´t end bases, some day, hehe)

Image

My Dryads and Drycha (Drycha is painted with a different colur-scheme of my dryads, some day i have to repaint her)

Image
Image

My Wardancers (My second simple NMM  ): Without Bases

Image

And the last and the worst One: My first Kurnous with a failure dipping experiment in this poor horse. (I have to reset it, hehe), and raider have no sword (where is it? i don´t know  ).

Image
Image

I made movement bases for treekins, 20 glade guards (not photographied all of them), 5 glade riders, and for kurnous riders (only one painted)

You can see that i had no conversions, I like so much the new wood elves style (and because of my laziness  ), so i didn´t finished any conversion yet. I´m working on two conversions (but i don´t have any photo yet)
- An alter-noble, made with sprues of glade guard and a beastman legs. And double-sword made with two ork-swords (filed of course) and some details made with green-stuff (nothing marvellous).
- A personal version of "spellsinger mounted on unicorn" made in a scenic base with the model of wood-elf female spellsinger with scepter, fellowed by a tigress (hasslefree) as a "pet" (the original idea was to mount this spellsinger on tigress, but the difference of scales turns it riddiculous) stroked in the head by the spellsinger. I didn´t begin with this proyect yet, but it was all in my mind. Someday i´ll post it! (i have a tourney this august, and i want to finish it before that).

I hope you like, at least a few aspects of my army. And i´ll be very glad if someone have a little inspiration about it.

You have a very nice colour scheme coming along, it gives off a nice nocturnal feel while remaining visually interesting. Your painting is also above the standard of most armies I see locally, so good job!
If you're looking to improve, try thinning your paints a bit more with water. You should also try to make the transition between two paints a little less obvious by mixing 50:50 of each before committing to the lighter one. This will dull the sharp lines of highlight you have now.

I'd like to see more of your work. :sexy:

Thank you, it was my intention. I imagine my elves living in a mystical forest, and making camo for that kind of forest. And night elves from Warcraft III were a good inspiration for this atmosphere.

Hehe, you´re right about transitions, so i´m very lazy to correct painted ones, so i´ll do it in my future jobs. And about thinning my paints, I try to add more water, so there´re some minis that i forgot to make it.

Thank you for your constructive critic :)

Hehe, i like the result of drycha me too. But it was one of my first painted minis of this army, and i use a little bit different colour scheme. I should use a more "blued" green.

Thank you for your comments! :sexy:

Heh, i don´t play WoW, i used to play Warcraft III, but long time ago.

I´m surprised about i haven´t seen any colur scheme with purples for Wood Elves, it was the first colour scheme i thought.

Right now i´m painting a new tau army, so i put my wood elves at the end of my paint-queue. But i have a tournament in three months. so i began to finishing my army.

The last thing i painted was wild riders horses. According to my colur-scheme army. And a bit different than the last one, so that kurnous is needing a bath into brake liquid.

You need cats a steeds :)

I have considered hav cat steed a long time, it would be really cool.
A warcraft 3 miniatures game would be nice.

You could use the High Elf lions for cats. :)

I'm also a fan of the scheme and painting.
They dwelt most often by the edges of the woods, from which they could escape at times to hunt, or to ride and run over the open lands by moonlight or starlight, and after the coming of Men they took ever more and more to the gloaming and the dusk.

I thought about using cat a steeds from Mars Ultor, but i really love actual wood elves' steeds. So i prefer to use them

Now my new painting, a spellsinger, one of my favourites miniatures from wood elves army.

That is an awesome paint scheme. It seems to draw you into a nocturnal world of slaughter in the woods. Those guys could hide in a Dark Elf regiment. I wish I could paint like that :(

I saw that this month´s modelling challenge is a highborn mounted on an eagle. So recently i purchased a gamezone eagle. This time i want to participate, so here you can see my advances on this model:

Image

About ensambling this model, i use an invented method. Ankle-pinning (sorry about my english):

Image
Image
Image

Now a little bit of Tamiya Stuff:

Image

And the same for the other wing:

Image

Ensambling the wings in the body:

Image

And patience to make this mix of cyanocrilate and stuff becomes hard as a stone (while i see an episode of Deadwood):

Image.

At the next day (a few minutes ago), i began with the base. So i use plastic tree of GW forest.

Can you tell me any advice about hiding the rod?.

Un Saludo!.

I like the eagle and the tree, but it's kind of hard to make out the rider :(

Can we see some more pics of him/her?

undercoating with a metallic paint?, I don't understand it. I suppose that the misunderstanding is about the photo with this figure undercoated, that i used flash, so it seems to be metallic. But i undercoat all my minis with citadel black spray.
