My friend asked me whether I could paint his Grimgor Ironhide model for him because he thought that I was a better painter. I managed to finish it with in 2 weeks after spending around 5 to 6 hours on the model. It is the first Warhammer model I have ever painted and I am only 13 but this is the result.

Looks quite good, mabe one or 2 hiighlights here and there and it would be perfect. I think that even if it was your first mini, someone that takes that much time on one just can't go wrong
nicely done

You can push, but I will push back...only harder, much harder.

I do like the armour a lot.
At your age my painting couldn't match up to that Good work.

Nicely done. Good job, and hope your army turns out like that.
There's no such thing as a bad army, only ones that take longer to get used to.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Considering your age and the fact that it's you first model, I'd say you've done a great job. Keep it up!

Re: My first painted Warhammer model
I have to say that I was dissappointed that the photo's didn't get all the layering and highlighting. If you looked at it yourself you would see more of the highlighting. For the skin I did about 3 layers, a glaze then two highlights and for the armour I just drybrushed it. The severed head had 2 layers then had a bit of flesh wash on the stump and lightly brushed on one side of the face, also the helmet on the head had a basecoat then glaze then two layers then another glaze. The other details were just painted several ways after the main parts were painted.
Soon I will have some of my Wood Elves painted up (which I sprayed today) and I am trying to paint it with as much detail and care that I can do. Hopefully if I can keep the painting up I could get as good as the professionals .

I started Painting at 12 one year ago, and i started off just like that
but being a n00b i did a space marine
But i improved a Lot over the year, learn a few small techniques and work up from that,
i especially like the armour as it looks weathered, just work up on the skin and highlighting and you'll be painting everything with spectacular results in no time!
Just my two cents

Re: My first painted Warhammer model
I remember my first model (at about your age... i can't remember that though). It certainly wasn't as good as that, trust me.
Your work is very promising. All you have to do to get better is paint as much as you can; the learning curve is almost exponential.
I'm eager to see more.

Who clicks on these anyways?Atlarge wrote: It's not GW if you're not scraping off a dozen nonsensical skulls from each model.
