[Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
It has now been a few months since we dropped the big bomb of phpBB 3 on you all, and as I stated in this thread I am now here posting a second poll to see how you feel about it after getting used to it a bit more. The new skin messed about a bit with where every link is located and so, but I hope you all have gotten a decent knowledge on how to operate the site and its many new functions now.
So tell me, how does the new software feel? And don't be shy to state your real feelings.

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
I've got really used to the new site and there are loads of shiny new features to play with! Although the old version was good, the new phpBB 3 stuff is way more advanced. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on my Firefox yet (using my desktop with IE at the moment ) but it's working great at the moment

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
I think it feels good. Haven't really used the new shiny stuff, but the skin and site works fine. It is slightly slow at times though (actually pretty often), not sure if this has got to do with this or not.
We've all heard of ninja horses and wild rider horses are much better than normal horses so they must be super ninjas......right?

The site slowness has to do with our host. I don't know what they do, but the speed slows down a lot during certain times of the day.

I really miss the Portal page, but beyond that, I love the new PHPBB 3

It's great; feels much more refined than the old version Shadow Forests version, which looked very flat. It also looks better than the shabby upgrade you implemented just before phpBB 3 came out. The banner is especially nice, though it would probably be better not to see some recognisable (unrelated) characters in the Asrai.Org banner. I like all the snazzy new features, even though I won't be using them that often. However, one problem is that the addition of all this new stuff complicates and lengthens the time required to navigate.

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
For the banner, we scoured the web to find some real Asrai fanart.. And found none whatsoever. The only Asrai art we found was GW's own copyrighted stuff. So Mel'Reyna did what she could and created a very Wood Elvish banner. She did a good job considering.
If we have any artists or illustrators on the site, please step forward.
Oh, and only 19 votes? With 2500 members I had hoped for more...

Odd. Very odd. If you logged in successfully, your session info is stored in a cookie on your computer as well as in the database. It should work as long as you have cookies enabled...

Hi,
Recently I've been checking out other sites, with a view to starting another army, and can honestly say that this site is very fast and slick in compared to others. So keep up the good work here!

Thanks, Dark Mark. We try our best to keep the site working smoothly and looking good. Unfortunately our host is a bit dodgey at times which can result in database errors and slow loading. If that happens, just hang in there

With over 90% saying the new system is good or better, I feel our decision to upgrade was a successful one. I'm glad you liked it.

The test is not what people say, but what people do. How much more/less activity are you getting? At what rate are new members joining? How many posts/topics per month?
Besides, if a lot of people did NOT like it, you would be hearing about it. Fortunately, no news is GOOD news.

Activity has gone up, but it always does. It's hard to follow the growing curve as we changed hosts and got a new type of statistics (which I still haven't fully figured out, gotta check on that today). But I see we are probably the most active Elven site at the moment (compared to Druchii and Ulthuan), which says alot about us.

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
Unfortunately, people are always prepared to tell you when they don't like what you do, but they rarely give you the praise and thanks you are due when you do something right. After all, why give someone credit for doing what they are supposed to? A foolish attitude that I do not bring to my teaching. Your transition was very smooth and I appreciate how hard you work to keep the technical under-pinnings, the infrastructure, of this site solid and up to date.

Such is the nature of society and the law to apprehend the deviants and ignore the ones that toe the line. What's happened to Asrai.org that makes it see more activity that its sister sites?

Don't know. We got more members, more posts per day, more topics per day, and more users online at every time of the day. I do not know the reason, only the effects.Schmeag wrote:What's happened to Asrai.org that makes it see more activity that its sister sites?
