[Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
Very strange. I used to always think of Asur.org.uk as much bigger than us, although perhaps it was an exaggerated first impression due to the Hour of the Wolf Campaign. I haven't really been on there much since. Druchii.net always seem to be a looming giant, well established in its ways (it had a magazine and everything), though I've never really been there. Well I guess that goes to show that the unknown always seems a lot bigger than they are.

Re: [Feedback] phpBB 3 - How does it feel? Round II
Ulthuan.net has a lot of members, and a lot of posts. But most members are inactive these days, or only joined for the campaigns. They are also on phpBB2, which means they have unactivated accounts included in their member count. That is not the case in phpBB3. We "lost" some 350 members when we went to phpBB3. I assume U.net has quite a few of those accounts.
As for posts, Druchii.net gets 130-150 new posts per day (stats from the last week), while we get 140ish new posts per day, with 1/5th of the member count. U.net is a place I haven't kept track of, but it seems to be 70-100 new posts per day there. With more than twice our member count.

Ehh, nevermind that ArchMagosAlchemys. I'm sure you two don't need the extra encouragement. You two have too much time on your hands.

A year with phpBB3 has soon passed. Most of you seem to be pleased. That makes me feel good. I hope you all think we did the right choice in jumping to the newer version. For instance; have you seen a single bot since we moved? On the old system, we had 5 different bot-protection systems added to the core mechanics. Here, we got nothing - and it works better!

IIRC those are the search spiders, they do not post porn adverts or anything like the bots Nagathi is probably referring to.

Since I joined a year ago, I'm not familiar with the old stuff. I like this place a lot! Thanks Nagathi.

There's a difference between a "bot" and a "spider" or "crawler". But I catch your drift. I'll rephrase:
Have you seen any ad/porn/spam bots?
Ama, I don't know if you visit other boards (Druchii.net, Asur.org and pretty much everyone else). Most, if not all, are using the old system (phpBB2). If you disregard the skin (which is also improved IMO) the mechanics and features are different. Like the PM to Groups option, or the notification that alerts you when someone else has made a post while you were writing, and the Friend/Foe option etc etc. Lots of new stuff, and the old things have been improved or streamlined, or made more customsable.

I'm a simplistic user and don't visit many other boards.
