The Site Downage

Post by Naggie »

As you all might have noticed, the site was down for about a week. It was not a server malfunction, it was not hackers, and it was not a power outlet or something. We simply got too big. The server the site was hosted on could only handle 20GB of bandwidth per month, and we reached that limit easilly in half the time. The server rejected access to the site for everyone. It basically got fed up with having so many people on it and so much activity.

However, now we have moved all the files to a server owned and maintained by one of the former Asur.org admins, Ricold. He has been given adminhood for the time being, mainly to keep the site running smoothly. His server is a lot better, and has an unlimited bandwidth usage (as far as we know). We are deeply thankful for his immediate contribution to our site.

For future advances, I am trying to get a web hotel function to work. By using that, we will get rid of all the lightallaince.co.uk bits of the URL, and instead get clean addresses, like asrai.org/portal.php and asrai.org/index.php etc etc. It will take time, but mostly money. I have set up a PayPal account to me in case anyone wished to contribute to this site's survival. Contact me through PM if you have questions. There are some things that might happen when we transfer the site to this web hotel, but everything will hopefully go as smooth as possible.

Woot!
Feels great to be back and Kudos to everybody who helped fix the problem.
I was getting annoyed with only surfing the underempire since all the other sites are too slow, too big or just plain suck.

We are BACK!

Thank you to everyone who helped getting our wonderful site up and running again.

Heh, how ironic though; getting too popular :P

I do this for several sites, offer technical support when I can. I'm always happy to help.

It's good to be back. Still, I have to say that this site going down didn't inconvenience me too much, since I live at Asur anyway. :P

But it is nice to see this site up and going again. On the same day as D.net, too. And Ricold, well, you do seem to get around. You seem to be the site-fixer. ;)

Asur's activity went right up when Asrai and D.net went down. Most people ran over there to wait for the problems to be fixed.

Not only is the site back, Kul is as well. Now we will get those chors done. Notice that all your avatars are gone. You will now have to upload them onto the site from your hard drive.

Thanks again to Nag and Kul and Ricold for getting the site back up and running. I enjoy asur.org but it just didnt feel right without having this place to check up on (plus all the rpgs on asur had begun just before i got there so it meant i couldnt do any)

Good to see the site back and i hope it continues to work.
