Graphics Contest 2006!
Greetings, fellow kinsmen!
The time goes by so very fast, and we are now in on our second year here on Asrai.org. The site is not exactly identical to the one we started with, but there is mostly only minor changes done. There is one thing we really need to update... Our banner for the Asrai.org skin!
So this contest is for you who have skills in any imaging program or anything to create a banner for this site (may it be simple paint, or as advanced as the very expensive programs I have never even heard of). If you think you have what it takes, you should try and enter this competition!
The Rules
Of course, a competition like this needs some basic rules. They are as follows:
- The image size should be no larger than 800px wide and 100px high.
- The image file size should be no larger than 120 kB.
- Only these formats are accepted: png, gif and jpg.
- The image should fit with the Asrai.org skin nicely.
- No copyrighted material on the image.
- The banner must contain the text "Asrai.org" somewhere visible.
- The winning contribution becomes property of the site staff.
- You may enter as many contributions as you like.
- Style, colours, theme and how well it fits the site layout will be the main attributes for a good contribution.
- The staff are allowed to enter the competition.
- Judges will be the three administrators of Asrai.org.
- Deadline is December 17th, which leaves you plenty of time!
¤ The contributions can be sent in through two different channels.
1: Attached in a mail sent to: nagathi@gmail.com
2. Uploaded on an image site, URL'd to in a PM to Nagathi.
The method you use will not influence our verdict.
So, is there a prize?
Well, if you don't think having your banner displayed at the top of every page is motivation enough, the winner will also receive a custom title (or a title chosen by the staff to represent the reason for the title - yet not decided). Unfortunately, there will be no prizes for second and third, besides lots of credits for a job really well done.
As an additional contest, we also need a new banner for our WarVault Webring page. If you have the time and strengths to do it, feel free to make a banner 150x75 pixels big that fits the Wood Elven theme and will look interesting for people who might not know much about Wood Elves. There is no additional prize for this, apart from the glory of having your own image at display on the Warvault lists. Same ways of entering this WV banner applies as to the regular ones. But make sure you differentiate it from the usual ones so it ends up in the right competition.
Post any questions about the contest or anything here in this thread.
GOOD LUCK!

Well I'm interested in the idea if that helps, our banner could look better (although it's definetly not bad) but unfortunately I have zero artistic ability (ok maybe 0.5 but that's it...); still I hope someone does rise up to the challenge from among our brethren ^_^Nagathi wrote:Anyone interested in this?

The "no copywrite material" puts me off. You can use it under Fair Use laws, as long as you're not asking for donations.
Does that "copywrite material" extend to GW wood elf artwork and concept art?

the no copy right thing is really putting me off. The only way i could make a good banner is taking pictures from the wood elf section of the games work shop site and putting them in banner form, like on the lost glade ( didnt do that though) so i guess me and foxy are in the same boat.

the lost glade, we're like... the bar you go to after work. We relax and have a bunch of contests and fun atmosphere, while still being a touch serious

Just to make sure, are you planning on keeping the background colour the same?
