The Unfortunate Downtime

Post by Naggie »

Asrai.org is Safe!

I was stroling down a street after buying my new shiny shoes for my graduation this Friday, when I met NightKnight, there for the same reasons. One of the things he said was that my glorious site was down. He had seen it that morning. I was shocked, and I was worried. SO many man-hours put to death by evil hackers?

When I got home, I had to see it for myself. As he said, there was an error showing. Apparently, a message was showing.

Code: Select all

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not obtain lastvisit data from user
table

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1016 Can't open file: 'phpbb_users.MYI'.
(errno: 145)

SELECT * FROM phpbb_users WHERE user_id =
3

Line : 70
File : sessions.php
I immediately sent a support request to B-One, our company we've bought server space from. They replied within 24h, as they promised. Apparently, B-One had experienced a power failure earlier that weekend, and when restoring everything, a file was missing or moved or altered. A file none of the admins here on Asrai.org has access to. After another 24 hours, here we are.

I can say, with great confidence, that Asrai.org has not been hacked. It was a small error on the behalf of our Server Company, and we are now safe. There is no need to worry anymore. However, if you see any problems, don't hesitate a second to report them to me. Just send a PM or a mail to nagathi@gmail.com as soon as possible. *edit by Kul* Or to johannesiv@gmail.com */edit*

Now go on and make up for the lost time!

*sigh of relief* Glad nothing's wrong, it'd be a shame to lose this place.

I'm also glad of the quick fix since I needed my daily jolt of Asrai before being severed from it in Europe. Anyway, thanks for the timely 'rebirth'.

Ahhh... a sigh of relief passes from my mouth.

Now I can proceed with posting my lastest mad army list...

According to B-One, the outage was very temporary, but it was the missing/moved/deleted/altered file that caused all the problems. I'm glad to see that we didn't lose many members thanks to this. Activity seems to be back at normal.
