Re: It's Been Fun
This is very poignant for me as I too am nearing the period of my life where I will have to cut down on the hobby and the internet in general.
We're all of the generation that began adolescent life on the internet. Sooner or later we all have to go into the real world.
I think you've done an excellent job with this community and this site.
Hope the future is bright!

Re: It's Been Fun
Blimey, you go off the boards for a month and the whole world changes!
It is impossible to adequately pay tribute to the sacrifices you have made on behalf of people most of whom you will never meet in person, except to say that you are a true servant to humanity and I am overjoyed that you are entering a profession that also embodies what it is to serve humanity, and one that is grossly undervalued in many parts of the world; I hope that is not the case for you.
I also hope you find that even though all things must end, and it is time you got on with other things, the years of toil and sacrifice were not merely worth it, but that in actual fact you got out far more than you put in. The beauty and mystery of it is that it's generally those who serve for reasons other than personal gain who end up gaining the most out of what they do. This is what I wish for you.
I am humbled by all you have done here for all of us. Your future students will be fortunate indeed to have you as a teacher and mentor.
What more can be said?
Best wishes
Greg

Re: It's Been Fun
I've not really been active around here much lately, or indeed ever, could be why I missed this
I've seen you hanging around various forums though and must admit what you've created here is a masterpiece, to have such a good community is a testament to how well a site is produced and ran, you should be proud.
This site has helped me majorly in the understanding of my newest army and I thank you for that.
Your speech was very moving
Best wishes with your future, I'm sure you won't need any luck.

In a few days, you'll realise that the world hasn't change all that much. It's more like one less person to try and rememberTane mahuta wrote:Blimey, you go off the boards for a month and the whole world changes!
Sadly, a teacher's pay is amongst the lowest you can get in Sweden. But I suppose that's what you get when you wanna work for the government.
On that note, I wish to announce that I was accepted to the Uni today. So now everything is set and ready.Your future students will be fortunate indeed to have you as a teacher and mentor.

Great news Nagathi. I love teaching. It's a wonderful portable profession and once you have a little experience, you can go anywhere in the world where you speak the language, and teach for a year or two.

WOW, still gonna pay for the server space? That quite gracious but it'll bore a hole into you pocket and you'll probably eventually become bitter at paying for it. Best thing to do is go into several ad agreements (Google, to name one) so that the site can pay for itself. Therefore no one is no one takes on the burden.
To bad you left before I got to know ya Nagathi. Peace be with you brother.

Re: It's Been Fun
I usually seat myself in the chat while I work on my studies, but I don't really chat a lot.
And the server space if fairly cheap (I've gotten a good deal), so I'll manage that. I personally don't like sites with ads. Mainly because they make the site so incredibly slow. It also clutters up the appearance and screws with my design of the place. So I prefer to keep it clean and simple.

May your work as a teacher be as rewarding as mine was. If you ever come to Croatian coast drop me a line ... things to do, words to share....
