My Battle report thread
Just thought I'd put a link up to my latest foray into Battle reports Mizard Wodel, birth of a Legend basically Wood Elves vs skaven with lots of pictures.
Dude, Where's My Tomb King?. Khaine times magic.
All Aboard The Daemonic Skylark.
Meanwhile Somewhere Between The Empire & Athel Loren.
Pop Khorne. Featuring my lizardmen.
Rumble in The Forest.
The War Against Chaos Continues.
A Half A Game Of AoS.
Minty Rides Again (or the curious case of the Trans-specied Dragon Ogre).
Mizzard Wodel Strikes Back.
Minty Pops His KoW Cherry.
Any advice or comments welcome (on here or the blog).

Re: My Battle report thread
Hi,
Interesting games and great reports. The three of them ar all very enjoyable reads.
Especially the last one against daemons, because High+Dark in a Sisters bus is something I want to try since the book came out last year.
It looks like your dice were very unpleasant for the whole match and, as you pointed out, those 3 decisions really mattered in the end.
As a side note, I think you misplayed a bit with unforging in turn 2. I'm pretty sure you can't unforge a daemonic gift, because it's not technically a magic item.
Otherwise it was very nicely played by both of you.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: My Battle report thread
Thanks very much for your comments. I think the daemonic gifts are very misleading as you can take a magic item if the roll doesn't suit (my regular daemon opponent does that), to be honest I rarely even attempt Unforging on a daemon as they as rule don't have armour.
I have written up another battle reported entitled meanwhile somewhere between the Empire and Athel Loren.

Quite entertaining to read
Funny to see your alliance took close to no casualties
Good luck on the next one!

Re: My Battle report thread
Great report, thanks for writing. Great to see the dragon out and about.
Would be nice with a few more pictures like the one labeled "Lovely plumage" (whole table from same angle as previous). All the close ups are really interesting and fit with the style of reporting, but it does make it a bit harder to get an overview about the overall battle.
Looking forward for the next one!

Re: My Battle report thread
Thanks for your kind comments.
@nXken the Empires main halberdier unit took close to no damage, he lost the cannon, Demigriffs and most of his spearmen unit. This is the first game I've had in a long time where my Waywatchers went pretty much unmolested. Most of the heavy lifing was done (as usual) by the Wild Riders. I really enjoyed playing with the dragon too as he really can wreck face!
@Mollesvinet my buddy who takes a lot of the pictures has an aversion to male crotches thus a lot of the pictures are cropped. In future I will try to get some of the pictures taken from further back.

Re: My Battle report thread
have you considered using the sisters instead of the lord on a dragon? (I'm a huge fan of the twins).

Steal away! Where are you from? It's common parlance from where I'm from.nXken wrote:PS... I am totally stealing the 'tits up' u got more like that?
I had only just gotten the dragon painted so I want to give him a couple of goes first. I think I'd rather the twins on the eagle and the ensuing ambiguity that goes with them.Aezeal wrote:have you considered using the sisters instead of the lord on a dragon? (I'm a huge fan of the twins).

Re: My Battle report thread
Actually you can take magic weapons only, so no armour of silvered steel. For the 2+ you have to hope for the 50 pts gift, but that one can't be unforged, since it's not a magic item.chickenbane wrote:I think the daemonic gifts are very misleading as you can take a magic item if the roll doesn't suit (my regular daemon opponent does that)
Re: My Battle report thread
Yeah on eagle can be nice (though it really depends on the rules used) but IF you put a dragon on the table the sisters are good, they give a lot more shooting than the lord and their 6 attack and half of those +1 to wound is strong in melee.chickenbane wrote:Steal away! Re: My Battle report thread
IMH(umble)O a dragon isnt meant to function as a shooting platform.
It's meant to wreck face harder than 20 tonnes of WildRiders put together.

That's what I think, but Wild Riders do cause a lot of damage though.nXken wrote:IMH(umble)O a dragon isnt meant to function as a shooting platform.

Re: My Battle report thread
Good game with just a few mistakes that you point out yourself.
I think the biggest mistake here was your opponent not taking dragonbane gem on his daemon prince, 5pts to save hundreds of points is always a good idea! Searing doom (and flaming cannons) begone.

Re: My Battle report thread
I know, a more effective way of dealing with him would be multiple waywatchers and a Shadow mage. Reliant on getting that spell though.

Re: My Battle report thread
In my experience waywatchers are the only way to go against daemon princes. Of course various spells can handle them, but it isn't reliable. Even when wounding on 6's, you just need 6 sixes over the game to put him down.
Wild riders can do a lot of damage to him, but it is near impossible to get the charge on a flying prince.

Re: My Battle report thread
Yes, I'm beginning to think that myself. Of course the trouble with Waywatchers is the DP will probably target them as a priority with spells or combat. I thinking that a level 2 death mage with a sisters bus with +1 Ld can be a nasty surprise with Spirit Leech - again it's dependent on the magic phase being kind.

Re: My Battle report thread
My next tour list is based on similar reasoning. I don't think the +1LD banner works on spirit leech as it is unmodified, but according to FAQ inspiring presence does work so I will bring a Dragon along I think.
Plus hex scroll and death magic is deadly when combined!

Re: My Battle report thread
Nice read, thanks for the write up. Your unicorn weaver was pretty much untouchable without any shooting attacks from his side, very nice.
As you said, this was not an easy match up for him and without luck on his side you were able to grab the victory. Good job!

Re: My Battle report thread
These are all amazing reports chickenbane!
Maybe you could update the first post of the thread to add the links there? Sort of as an index page?
I tend to go back and reread old favourites occasionally. When the links are hidden in the thread, it makes it somewhat harder =)
On the other hand, if it's too much work, don't worry, it's just a minor thing. Consider me subscribed in any case
