I also have a Bsb on steed, 3 Warhawks and 5 sisters of thorn lying around too if they make a better list.

Lots of views but no responses, I guess I'll give it a go.

Scouts: You have a unit of ten scouts in both lists. The formation's footprint will be be on the large size because they have to be in skirmish formation. Flexibility is lost by having one large unit rather than two minimum sized units. I would divide the scouts into two units. I can't think of any reason to have a standard bearer in a unit of scouts. These points are better spent elsewhere.

Wild Riders: Was it an oversight that a Wild Rider unit in the second list doesn't have a magical banner?

Glade Guard: You do not need standard bearers unless you're planning to get your GG into melee combat.

I would pay the extra points to provide the Wild Riders with shields.

There are shields for all the Wild Riders already..forgot ot write that.

The banners are for Blood and Glory but I'm not sure if that's played as much in my group anymore. I couldn't find hte points for a second banner for Wild Riders.

But yes I agree with the scouts. A unit of 5 or 6 annoying poison shots would be cool.

I find that Waywatchers and scouts work best in small 6 man units 3 wide. That way they have a small enough footprint to evade most threats, 8 man and 4 wide is okay, but yea 5 man wide in skirmish isnt the best for us. As for the banners, Blood and Glory isnt WE's strong point. Ive played an all forest spirit list at a torney before and just accepted that I'd lose the B&G mission. Anyways as for your banners, keep them in case you do play B&G, but give the banner on the scouts/GG to the Wild Riders. They're the ones you want in combat and the extra combat res will be nice.

That's a good idea about the banners. Yeah ill have to accept a loss to blood and glory. We don't really that as much.

Here is my list re-written. Any thoughts? In a list like this, do you think I would need a BSB - I could put him in a Wild Rider unit.:

or a Lvl 4 Treeman Ancient (depending on my mood)

Lvl 2 Shadow Singer

25 dryads

14 trueflight glade guards
Banner (I've already painted the standard bearer haha)
Musician

6 hagbane Deepwood Scouts.
6 hagbane Deepwood Scouts.
6 hagbane Deepwood Scouts.

6 Treekin

6 Wild riders
Shields
Banner

6 Wild riders
Shields
Banner

2 eagles

I doubt you will need those eagles.. but they are cheap so if you like them keep them. I would prefer other things myself.

Oh like what? I've never been able to use them properly.

You could drop a level on the singer and take the 5 sisters as a nice little utility unit.

Otherwise 2 eagles are easily replaced by 5 waywatchers if you have the models.

This might help. Baardah copied and pasted this from Ulthuan.net.

It's still applicable even though it's an old post.

Hey cool sidewinder. .. eagles seem pretty tricky! But can you do some of these tricks with the sisters of thorn unit?

Using eagles to redirect is simple enough, but, yes, using eagles can be tricky. I still make too many mistakes and miss great opportunities with eagles.

Yes, Sisters o/t Thorns can be used with eagles especially since both have great mobility.
Sisters can be used as hard cover for an eagle's charge when the charge originates from behind the Sisters. If your opponent does shoot at the eagle, then it would be safe to have the Sisters charge as well. Of course you would do this only against light chaff. If your using the Sisters as a bunker for your mage then you might not want to charge the Sisters in as well. On the other hand, your mage is riding a unicorn. The unicorn should be able to kill 1-2 skinks or human archers by itself.

Double Flee -- If you are not using your Sisters as a bunker, you could set up a double flee with it and the eagle. I would want a musician in the unit for this to help increase the odds to rally. Feigned Flight is an advantage the Sisters have. After rallying, you can march and shoot like normal.

You can use the "Chasing Away" (tip #3) as well. With both having very good range, it's possible that you might catch the fleeing unit.

Railroading -- with both units having very good range and very good mobility it would be easy to railroad an opponent's powerful combat unit. But Railroading is frowned upon and most people consider it poor form. Others feel that it is flat out cheating.

Go ahead and use the list as you have it now. With the exception of the Dryads and Treekin, you have a fast, mobile list. During your games, if you find yourself wishing you had a non-magical means to slow your opponent down, then that's an indication that eagles are needed.

Well at the moment I think the Eagles, sisters of thorn and waywatchers are interchangeable between each other and will depend on what flavour I get used to.

I guess the idea behind the dryads and treekin are that they provide some tarpits and some combat fun. Not sure of my list would benefit without them. I was originally a forest spirit guy.
