New to Wood Elves, 400pt Escalation.
My first post on here so any help is welcome regarding on how to post. Recently started an escalation league, starting at 400 pts. Here is the list I have come up with:
Core:
10 Eternal Guard
- 10 Shield, Full Command
150
10 Glade Guard
- 10 Trueflight Arrows
150
Rare:
5 Waywatchers
400 total
My initial thoughts are on the Waywatchers, I feel although they could be effective, they are a big points investment given the limit. And as to whether a full command on the Eternal Guard is necessary. Cheers.

One option would be to replace the Eternal Guard for a unit of Wild Riders, would this be a better option?

Hi and welcome,
I hope you'll have some good time here.
About your list I think you have just a single problem.
Unless it's home-ruled you must have at least one character who acts as General for your force.
An hero level mage can bring the new element of the magic phase in your game, or else a cheap Glade Captain wit the HoDA can really swing games at this point level.
Other than this, I think that if you want to start with a solid army the combination of Glade Guard, Wild Riders and Waywatchers can only serve you well at any stage of the game.

Good idea, she can sit in with my glade guard and give them some buff with that Earth Blood spell.
Re: New to Wood Elves, 400pt Escalation.
Not sure if you are avoiding dryads for a particular reason but...
Branchwraith
13x Dryads (with champion)
6x wild riders with shields
Comes out to 396. And I think would be effective at this low point level.

I suggest you go for : 10 Glade guards, 10 dryads, branchwraight and a great eagle for hunting. it's devastation for your foe at this point level and you will still have some points to use for a champion to fill in your 400.
Re: New to Wood Elves, 400pt Escalation.
I do not own enough Dryads to make a unit, could I sit the Branchwraith in a unit of eternal guard instead?

Unless I'm mistaken, different base size means they will sit on one of the corners of the front rank
They won't displace any if the eternal guard they just rank up in line with the others. Kind of an exception
to the all ranks must have the same number rule
