Starting 750 point list

Post by Danyo »

Hello guys, quick list thrown together using the models I own. Probably the one il be using for a while with small tweeks here and there. No money for extra models and made an oath to my better half I wouldn't buy any more until all my guys are painted haha.

Spell Singer with dispel scroll
14 Glade Guard with full command
10 Glade Guard with musician
8 Glade Riders with musician
5 Sisters of the Thorn with standard and Handmaiden

Coming to 745 points

No upgrades as keeping it simple for a while but would be good to hear ideas.

But was thinking taking the Handmaiden of Thorn and the dispel scroll to make the Spell Singer a level 2 wizard.

Any advise would be golden thank you!

You aren't taking advantage of what makes our archery so great. I think this is a mistake. I would take hag bane on your GR and I'd split that unit of 14 GG into 2 units of 7 scouts with hag bane. I'd then either give your GG true flight or hag bane. It brings you closer to 800, but makes for batter army. If you need to drop points, drop a GR or two. Also, command is somewhat wasted on these units, IMO.

I'd have taken WR as first unit out of that box. You can still proxy the sisters like WR I'd say.
I'd go for a level 2 mage.
I'd certainly drop all command's
Listen to the advice given about scouts (or WW).
All archers you use should use a special arrow IMHO, hagbane, trueflight or swiftshivers are nice examples.

Thanks for the reply guys! Il set about making some changes.

Sisters were picked for a fluff point of view so they will be staying but that's the only thing not up for change, I'm aware wild riders would be the better choice from a gaming perspective.

As for the command being dropped, not even keep a musician? I've been away from wood elves for a long time ya see.

Il configure up a list at lunch time with your given advise :)
Thanks.

Right, rearranged to still keep within the 750 bracket.

Level 2 Spell Singer

14 Glade Guard with musician and Swiftshiver Shards
10 Glade Guard with musician and Hagbane Tips
5 Glade Riders
5 Sisters of the Thorn with standard.

Comes to 744 points.

Scouts would be too expensive in this point level I felt and kept some command in there so there could be room for more changes.

I would advice to take WR instead of sisters of thorn and10 glade guard with trueflight an lvl4 spellweawer with lore of beasts. 10 eternal guard in conga line. Should come in for 740 pts. Add some magic items if u want.

So if you substitute your sisters for wild riders, then perhaps you would be willing to do the following:

Lvl 2 Spellsinger with Asrai Longbow - 120pts

Core:
Glade Guard x12 with Hagbane Tips - 180pts
Glade Guard x11 with Trueflight Tips - 165pts

Special:
Sisters of the Thorn x5 - 130pts
Wild Riders x5 - 130pts

Total - 725pts

You're proxying your Glade Riders as Wild Riders for more punch.
The Spellsinger goes in with the Glade Guard unit with 11.
Then you have 25pts worth of upgrades to use as you desire.

Oh....I like that idea! Been doing some reading today and it does seem that wild riders are a must have in any list.

Maybe not really a "must" have, but surely they help. :D

I know you don't want to purchase any more model, but I think that an Eagle could really help your army in a way nothing else can: it buys you time to shoot enemies down or set favourable charges. And this is something WE absolutely need.

with an eagle in the mix I think you can get to 1000 pts easilly.

Heavensinger L2, Dispel Scroll, Opal Amulet. 155
BSB on steed with shield, spear and HoDA 144 (use the Glade Rider standard bearer for him)

14 Glade Guards with Trueflight Arrows, full command, Standard of Discipline 255

6 Deepwood Scouts with Hagbane Tips 96
5 Sisters of the Thorn, standard, BoEF. 150
5 Wild Riders, shields, champion 150

Great Eagle 50

Anyway, even without the eagle 2 more Wild Riders can't harm and you'll still be around 1000 pts (just ditch the amulet from the mage)
