Looking at the new book today it looks like a tree based list is still viable.
Treekin/treeman/drayds all took a bit of a hit with the new book, but having the acorn helps as well as drycha's rules.
I was thinking about taking something along these lines
- Treeman Ancient with some magic and the acorn
- Drycha
- 30 Drayds
- 2 units of 10 drayds
- 2 units of 6 treekin
Would a list like this still do alright?

Forest spirit list still viable

Treeman Ancient cannot take magical items...need a weaver.
Dryads can be okay, but I'm not a fan. The spirit army isn't what it used to be. They need the elves, and the elves like them

i would go pure msu for a forest spirit army.
You still need the spellweaver to get the acorn, but you can hide her in a dryad unit. I'd go light with her, cause it's very helpful for the spirits. timewarp on a unit of tree kin is pretty sweet. Or giving a treeman a 22" charge range is also pretty sweet :P plus the other low casting buffs, like unbreakable, initiative 10..things like that.
to change it up, 3 units of 10 dryads, 3 units of 4 tree kin (or 4 units of 3), a couple Tree men, with a TMA if you'd like.
I really don't think it's a great list, but it's playable

Or you could take a Treekin hoard..... haha.
yes is still viable and better than that several different varieties. Branchwrith spam and beast is a fun one.
4 trees is another.
Also if you put you weaver on a unicorn you want to be 100% forest spirit but, i think 99% is fine.

Re: Forest spirit list still viable
The sad truth is while the acorn might fit with the fluff of a all forest spirit army, it doesn't fit well with the rules. No skirmisher to sit in the woods. no benefit to troops for being in woods, doesn't really give any protection against the type of shooting that is good against treemen etc...

Re: Forest spirit list still viable
The problem with all the Forest Spirit units (except Treemen) is that they are ranked troops with no musician, making it very hard for them to maneuver around the battlefield. Playing MSU with Forest Spirits therefore becomes next to impossible.
