Morathi

Hello fellow Asrai,

I'm looking for some advice concerning Morathi, the Dark Elf Sorceress.

I'll be facing her next week in the second round of our local 'Warrior Cup'.
It's a 2500p battle, winner goes through to the next round.
The build of your General cannot change throughout the tournament (including gear, spells, marks...).

My general is an Eagle Highborn with the Armour of Silvered Steel, a Talisman of Preservation and a Great Weapon.

Anyways, here's the build I need to beat:

Morathi
Lore of Death : Spirit Leech
Dark Lore : Doombolt, Bladewind, Soul Stealer

I'm quite lucky with the spells I'm facing. Could have been worse.
However, I haven't faced this character yet, so any advice would be very welcome!

What to do? What not to do? Shoot her? CC here? Is magic a solution?
And what should I look out for?

I faced her on a Pegasus and just shot her but I gather you can face her without the mount?

your lucky as the best way to run her is 1 from dark and 3 from death, or 4 from death.

Just shoot her and she will die.

Or break the unit she's hiding in, and run her down with the rest of them (which is what I did the one time I faced her...). She's not that much more scary than any other Lv.4 caster, so as long as you can handle her magic she's not that much of a threat and dies nearly as easily as every other Druchii.

I suppose she's not mounted, because else it would have been listed.

So she'll be in a unit. Probably a cheesy one, since the tournament doesn't have any restrictions at all. I'm talking reblochon, blue cheese, cheddar, gorgonzola and camembert all in one...

Maybe I'll just take 100 Glade Guard myself

Do Dark Elves have any item that prevents/limits shooting, or protects against ranged fire?

She's in a cheesy unit? She rides the champion Kharibdriss out of a unit of 6??? ;-). Nothing seems cheesy these days. That book is fairly well balanced.

Im pretty sure she has to be mounted, I was unaware she couldn't be

Morathi is definitely mounted, she's pretty decent on the charge and her 4++ is good protection, but she'll fall to massed shooting, same as any lone character. Last time I played her, a Terrorgheist whined or shouted at her or something and she went hurtling off the board.

so my favorite dark elf character

she has to be mounted on the peg, she has a 6+, 4++ and magic resist 2. so magic is not that good against her except dwellers. if you shoot her enough times she will die - only T4. she can hold her own pretty much against any solo hero in CC whether she charges or gets charged. however she can't take magic items so unless your opponents has a lvl1, they will have no scroll in the army
