Cheers dude
Looks like a new spin on things, not really up to date with AOS so not sure how these new models will fit in.
Is that a mutated elf?

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
Yeah, they're half elf half tree!!! weird, but with them withdrawing Treekin, htis opens the door for other stuff!! although I don't and won't use the Order alliance and instead use the original battlescroll for the Wood Elf army, thse could fit in quite nicely!!frogboy wrote:Cheers dude

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
Always thought Elves were immune to the taint of chaos, the AOS universe is different then?
Dryads were always shapeshifters, able to transform into humanoid form.
What is that flying elf in the picture with the giant beetle? Looks like wings growing out of her back. I wonder how big that beetle will be, not sure I like the idea of insects either
It is nice to see the Sylvaneth get some love early in the realise schedule though

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
Oh, it's not a chaos taint, it's more I think a nature thing... becoming one with the wood....
The "thing" is Allariel in her war aspect apparently riding a giant Stag Beatle, looks like we may be getting this as a model!!!

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
This AOS must be a modellers/painters dream come true. With no restrictions etc. I'm looking forward to seeing the models as they are released, the new Orc models are very nice.

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
Yeah,it's a good system, forget playing Wfb, the mechanics are totally different... there's so much more freedom in the lists to make very personalised themed armies.. even the warscroll compendium for traditional Wood Elves can still be used instead of the Grand alliance Order scrolls, or you can combine the two!

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
Mutant elves are never cool, but shapeshifting elves wood be
That beetle disturbs me, in the picture it's definitely facing in the same direction as the elves but we can't see the bottom of the picture, perhaps it's an enemy which has been turned over.
It looks as though the elves are fighting Nurgle army there's a flying plague drone thingy flying in the background or some kind of insect. Maybe the beetle is with them?

the fluff for all of my battles and army is set from Athel Loren.Cernunnos wrote: although I don't and won't use the Order alliance and instead use the original battlescroll for the Wood Elf army, thse could fit in quite nicely!!
The King is still the King!
I'm really looking forward to the new stuff. It's been amazing playing Wood elves so freely in this addition.
The way I feel about AoS in comparison to 8th edition, is like 8th edition being a game like Age of Empires where things are quite top down zoomed out and AoS being more real time and zoomed in. I find it flows a lot better and being able to actually theme an army without "Core Tax" is incredible. Especially for the fluff battles that my group enjoys.
Any news on release dates or rules? I tend to get most of my updates from war of sigmar.
Long live the King in the Woods!!!

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
These are part of the Sylvaneth faction which means, treeman, dryads etc.... though since they've dropped treekin there was room in the list for something new..
Apparently the new Allariel model will not be riding the stag beatle, but floating above it like Nagash...

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
There appears to be Treemen with bows, fey/dryad style Aelves with single handed blade, and a 4 armed Treekin type dude.

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
I don't agree there, mostly not.
What is this? The elf/tree mix look more vampire to me and is really ugly. The beetle is weird and though Allariel, or what here name is, nice looking she look to much Aztec for my taste.
The dreadnought is just the worst thing I've seen from GW. Sorry to be such a whiner but what is that thing doing here?
The dryad with a weapon looks kind of good. I like the Kurnoth hunters. They are just small, armed treemen, will probably get some of those.

Re: Sylvaneth cometh
I really like the Kurnoth Hunters, all 3 weapon variants, and I really like the Branchwych.
Personally, I really don't like Drycha, the Spite Revenants, and I'm quite torn on the Alarielle model.
What do you guys think of the points for AoS Wood Elves?
