Hi, the posts have slowed down indeed. Personally, I lost interest in playing since AoS came out but I keep painting. The 9th age seems very promising though.

I'm a mod on another forum, so have had to give that much of my energy.

It's difficult to stimulate debate on race-specific forums right now. Several are struggling for posts.

Believe me, posts have slowed a lot. I guess it has a lot to do with AoS not being a faction specific game. Could be indicative of the number of people playing AoS. And it might be that the AoS players don't know about the Asrai site or think that it is only for WFB.
So it's no longer the BRB, now it's the DERB. (Digital Edition Rule Book) I am all in for 9th Age.

On Ulthuan we've restructured to try to give equal coverage to 8th, AoS, KoW and 9th Age. All those are seeing posts, not a lot but a steady stream. In the end of course, it all depends on how many players of each system are active on the forums.

For example, 9th Age's own forum is very busy and several formerly regular Ulthuan posters are heavily involved in rules development there. Similarly I'd imagine that KoW's own forums have taken posters from race-specific forums. Not sure what's going on at WargamerUSA for example, given the US Masters adoption of KoW.

I am waiting to see what 9th age brings , I think once that gets firmly established and people accept it as the standard rules set for fantasy things will pick up . there is alot to like about it , but it is a little unrefined at the moment . there background and fluff needs to be flushed out more but i hear they are working on that .
I tried AOS and while it is a fun game it lacks alot in my opinion . and with limited free time on my hands to play , I can't justify supporting it with my $$ or time . so I wait for 9th :)

ETC adopting it was a big boost. But the US tourney scene has gone heavily KoW I believe and UK is mostly about 8th and AoS.

Maybe the moderators aught to restructure this sight too? The word "asrai" is pretty specific to the old world, but our theme is present in most fantasy/roll-playing games.

My gaming group has been playing lots of AoS. Personally we are loving it.

I am playing with two themed lists, both constructed out of different units of my Wood Elf army.

Wanderers / Wild Hunt based which is mainly Aelfs and Treekin, and a Sylvaneth based list Dryads, Treemen/Ancients, Sisters of the Thorn and the Green Knight.

I feel like there's less questions about the Sigmar rules, lists and general set-up.

I still pop on regularly to see if there's any questions or posts to respond to though.
Long live the King in the Woods!!!

Sadly it's the same on every forum I'm a member of, and I hasten to say that none of it is my fault!!!!!!! Things are really quiet all over, mind you, it does mean that I can get painting more :nod:
and I will NOT sell any army or leave the forums.

Seems it wasn't just the old warhammer world that got fractured during the End Times and now the community has splintered into AoS, 8th or KoW. My interest has diminished a lot as I've invested in the warhammer world and system since 1985. Not just money but in the idea of the warhammer world. To me it's like reinventing the Star Wars universe completely. There's loads of sound business reasons for them to have done what they've done but like many business reasons they're just cold. The heart has gone out of it. I don't think AoS is rubbish or anything it's just that by changing the setting/game it's obvious there's none of 'my people' left at GW any more, they seem younger, cheaper and more compliant than the characters of the past.

In my youth fantasy was riding high after the popularity of dungeons and dragons. Such a widespread adoption of fantasy may happen again at some stage, it could have come from the warhammer world but can't see that happening now. Seems a bit odd that there's never been a film made involving the warhammer world given the terrific amount of background for it.

I wish folks all the best but it isn't the game that grabbed hold of me when I first saw a table top full of massed dwarfs and blocks of undead. It was an impression that stayed with me for a good while.

I still play 8the Ed and might give 9the age a go... But there are so many good games out now and AOS isn't one of them. So whfb gets played a bit less often and I blog a lot less often. GW [censored] up mightily with AOS. I understand they needed to fix a range of problems, but I think they failed to identify the problems adequately, and the solutions they opted for were a cure worse than the disease. I suspect the sort of bubble thinking that goes with an absence of leadership turnover on the board and director level had a lot to do with it. Hubris over analysis etc. They could have fixed all the problems, retained and enhanced loyalty and onboarded new gamers riding the current gaming/modelling wave but instead they behave like a fundamentalist movement that defines customers and customer loyalty only within the bounds of whoever buys what that company wants them to buy (see shareholder article on bols for where I got some of this opinion from). Anyway, I won't sell my armies, but I won't play AOS either, so I will game against fewer opponents and probably never collect another whfb army... Unless gw correct their errors.

I believe Jervis Johnson was influential in the creation of AoS. I too came from 70's D&D (and historical wargaming). IMHO GW changed about 1990 from 'of the community' to 'distinct'.

In the late 90's Epic was a Core system, alongside Warhammer and 40K. Then they re-did it and it bombed, despite being a good game by most accounts. Possibly the same thing here, though it's hard to tell at this stage.

I still like AoS personally, but I noticed the lack of comments on here and I got worried. I think that KoW is mostly compatible with the current Warhammer format, it should combine into most of the discussion boards seamlessly. The only time we would need to separate the games would be when it comes to tactical discussions.

Not really posting a lot of forums now. I check out the Mantic forums a little.

Getting most of my gaming social media fix via Twitter and Facebook. I'm a big fan of twitter for wargaming networking. Handle is @friedtaterexplo if anyone wants to follow me. I'll follow you back :)

I've noticed the following:

USA ----> Kings of War
Continental Europe----> 9th Age
Britain-----> AoS, but some Kow
English Canada-----> 40K
French Canada----> Some 9th Age, a bit of everything else

I'll be interested where everything settles after a year. I'm personally very jazzed for Kings of War. I can understand newcomers hesitation to give up on GW, but Mantic has done nothing but impress me since I took the plunge. They interact with their players on the forums and support tournaments.

It's a really refreshing change of pace.

I have not yet played 9th ed. but I have reviewed the rules and "Army Book" (as they now stand) and, for the most part, I'm liking what I see.
So it's no longer the BRB, now it's the DERB. (Digital Edition Rule Book) I am all in for 9th Age.

Personally I play 9th. Don't know the rest of Sweden. Seem much of warhammer have just died here. On armies of parade there were only 2 fantasy armies out off 21 total. A local club doesn't play fantasy at all. Me and four friends are split on what to do.

I haven't been round here so much recently because my gaming group isn't really playing fantasy atm. I can't see how 9th age will help. The fantasy scene is becoming too fractured what with Oldhammer, 8th Ed, AoS, KoW and 9th Age. What happens when 9th brings a whole new set of issues or nerfs armies? 9th age 2.0? If I was to adopt a game I'd go for KoW as it's supported by it's own manufaturer but I'm still waiting for my group to agree to play it. :(

Personally I am a fan of Age of Sigmar and I will support it in any way I can. Here in Greece the community is fractured and since we were not so many guys to begin with we experience the problem of having too many fantasy sub-communities.

Now regarding the 9th age I am not about to play a game made of fans as I trust them no more than GW and I don't want to play 8th or one of the older editions as they are not supported by the company and as such they are not live games that involve in any way. I love that at last the fluff went on and the fact that there are books that continue the story even more.

Regarding Kings of War I tried it but there are two main factors that drove me away. The first was the fact that while it is a nice game rules-wise it is a bit bland for my tastes and I kept having the feeling that I play every time a mirror-match.

The second one was the fact that I find mantic models abysmal... Especially their elf range have some of the wosrt models ever sculpted (in my opinion of course). And no I am not interested in playing a game with miniatures from a different game...

I believe that by the end of 2016 we shall see more or less were the wind will blow. In my opinion Age of Sigmar will have its real trial by fire when they release the new models for some of the iconic races such as the elves, dwarfs and greenskins. Because with a little comp combined with the scenarios the game is really great.

Anyway that's my two cents at least. :)

I hear pretty much the same thing. I ordered a copy of Kings of War rules from my local game shop months ago and never heard back from them. With the feedback I'm hearing maybe I don't really want it after all.
