New FAQs - disappointed
I can't believe this isn't up on here yet.
http://www.blacklibrary.com/faqs-and-errata.html
Tl;dr- Up to 50% Lords and up to 50% Heroes. Every Wizard can choose spells from the Lore of Undeath.
That's it.

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
Nice of them to put up a wood elf faq and answer one question which has never even come up.
"The lions sing and the hills take flight.
The moon by day, and the sun by night.
Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool.
Let the Lord of Chaos rule."

I'm just returning from a long absence. I was off the understanding that our book was awesome. We're there issues that required an FAQ?
Good Hunting. And check the tree line.... we are watching you

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
Really GW, you actually made an faq document and posted it on your website for THAT?
Re: New FAQs - disappointed
This was funny. A answer to a question that has never been asked.
No answer to the questions that has been asked. For example the frenzy on wild riders and there mount.

If Magic Arrows are enchanted items, does that mean you can only have one unit or character with Hagsbanes?Nymraif wrote:I'm just returning from a long absence. I was off the understanding that our book was awesome. We're there issues that required an FAQ?

Does this win an award for least useful FAQ's ever?! Sheesh, maybe they're saving them all up for the "End Times: Elvenkind Unite!" book... or not

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
oy vey this doesn't help us at all... most of us ironed out the rules I think anyways and most players except them for what we think they are. Games workshop always has a way of trying to write something plainly and people find ways to manipulate or interpret.
Wild rider mounts have frenzy
And we can have as many arrow types or one types in many units if we want. at least 90% of the player base has accepted that and even in tournaments as well.

How do we prove we exist? Maybe we don't...
Re: New FAQs - disappointed
I completely agree, but they should make these rules clear anyway, just to prevent some unnecessary arguments between players. At the company I work for, we have a team, whose job is to monitor the internet, FB and different forums, and gather information about the problems and questions what our customers might have. And sometimes, to answer those questions directly. I don't have that much experience with GW, but I already know, that it's too much, to ask...hutobega wrote: Wild rider mounts have frenzy

And what do you guys think? Will the 50% lords, 50% heroes thing bring big changes? I think it will, but I can't imagine, how it will affect the way other armies play.

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
TBH in my last games I haven't found the characters to be the problem... if my tombking opponent had taken another lord instead of his necroknights I'd have been very glad.
Re: New FAQs - disappointed
It really depends on the army, TK, empire, dwarves, WE, maybe even OnG I don't see it being usefull to exceed 25% on lords and heros. It will change for VC, WoC, and perhaps OK, but with the limited number of magical items I don't think it will change too much. The only super abusive build I could think of off hand would be a Lance of lords and paladins six diceing savage beast. I don't think this is as bad as everyone thinks at first. Granted I don't want to play vs a 6 scream VC list but I'm sure I'll find a way.

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
Well, WoC can do nasty things too.
No more need to choose between L4 and Chaos Lord looks bad.
Double Star Dragon will be hard to face too.

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
If it helps, we could potentially field 4 L2 Treeman Ancients, and 2 regular Treemen. + minimum core.

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
To be fair, I did send this to GW and got a reply.
It appears as if there's a typo in the Wood Elves army book (including the digital edition). In the section describing the Lore of Dark Magic, the spell Shroud of Despair says:
“Until the start of the caster’s next Magic phase, the targets cannot benefit from the Hold the Line or Inspiring Presence rules.”
According to the Dark Elves book, it should say "Hold Your Ground" not "Hold the Line". Given that there is also a special rule called Hold the Line (for Empire troops), this has caused some bickering amongst more pedantic players.
Hope this helps,
Aidan
Hi Aidan,
Thank you for your email. I have now passed this on to our rules team who will get this rectified as soon as possible.
Many thanks,
Stuart

Re: New FAQs - disappointed
The new character changes are really pleasing. With my Undead army I was always forced into the same character choices. Now I can just pimp my Vampire Lord out a bit more with magic and save a bunch of points on characters and get more troops. My mate who has Ogres will be able to get a Hero Level BSB and Level 2 Mage.
