I had the same problem a while ago and several other people have reported similar issues. Sorry I can't help, I'm just here for moral support :D

I'm sure one of the more computer savvy admins will be along shortly though...

I hope :paranoid:

If you have a smartphone, you can use Tapatalk as the plugin does not check for IP.

We are unable to whitelist anyone. We use an external database with spam registers, and your company may be sending a lot of emails without getting as many replies. That's a sign of a spammer.

I think it's more that many folks use mobile networks and coffee shops and even smaller ISPs to access the web, many of which have IP addresses that have been used by spammers in the past.

This problem happened to me too. While at home I use cable internet and my ip address seem to be OK. But at work I use an internet key on my laptop and for an unknown reason I can't post from it, it always address me as a known spammer. So there is no way to fix this ?.

Cheers

Given the choice between inconvenience and constantly being bombarded with kitchen advert spam - I'll take the inconvenience.

And if you're unaware on what type of "constantly" Billy means, I can share two images from the admin control panel which will show what the spam block is doing. These numbers show how many blocks each blacklist have issued here on Asrai.org. It could be a user registration, or a reply to a thread, creation of a new topic or any other similar thing. And these are just some of the numbers. There are more...

"Constantly" as Billy puts it, really means A LOT.

As I'm a big fan of maths, if each of these blocks would be equivalent to 5 minutes of work for a moderator; taking care of all of the blocks would mean that we'd need to have someone working constantly for more than six years. All day, every day. And five minutes for each block is not all that hard to imagine. It means finding the bad post, clicking a lot of buttons to report it, check other reports, go to the mod control panel and ban the user IP, the user mail, the username and finally delete the user and the post. All that takes a while. But working non-stop for more than 6 years is too much. WAY too much.

No. Removing the spam protection would make the site unusable.

I'm saying that you can no longer post on Asrai.org from that network. The machine does not matter. It is the network you use to access the internet that is blocked.
