avatar image size

Post by Sethayla »

So I am trying to change my avatar image back to my classic Sethayla warhawk picture. The issue I'm having is that I took the picture with an iphone camera (lots of pixels) and so the image size is much much too large for an avatar photo. I have tried the "resize" tool in windows photo gallery with no luck (I can change it to 1x1 and the file size is still too large).

Help?

Thank you!

Use an image manipulation program. I use GIMP. Open it, resize it to 125x125 pixels (or less, if it isn't square). Save it as a new image (so you don't lose the better quality larger image.) Don't try resizing by percentage of the image size, that'll just be awkward.

Windows picture manager also has a compress option I think.

Also take a look at the file type you're saving the image as, as that can have an effect on file size. For instance, PNGs will be much bigger than JPGs. If the original is a PNG, resize it and then try saving it as a JPG instead.

Hi,

New here but I had major issues getting an avatar to meet the criteria. The 115 x 115 pixels were not an issue, but I found it very difficult to get any image under 20KiB, thus my tiny little avatar as you can see. Anyone able to help with this? Is it possible to raise the avatar limit to 30 KiB or 50 KiB?

Thanks,

Rob

If you give me the image you'd want to use, I can reduce the quality so that it's below 20 kB. Any image software can do this.
