Whatever Happened To...

Post by Ryikko »

I just noticed this:
When I am about to post, and someone posts before me while I am writing my post, how come there is no more notice that someone has posted before me and I might want to change my post based on what that person has said?

Whatever happened to that nifty little prompt? I am beginning to miss it.

Did that make any sense?

And would someone care to explain where this has gone?

Thanks in advance.

It does it for me, maybe it's dependant on what browser you use, I have Firefox so.....

(I'd like to mention that the Firefox inbuilt spellchecker doesn't actually recognise the word 'Firefox'.....or 'spellchecker')

I have noticed something about that feature. I think it's one of the best new features in our new software, and I like it much. However, it seems to only prompt you if the reply was made while you were writing your reply. Not if the reply was made while you were reading the thread.

I.e.
1. You open the thread (load the page)
2. A reply is posted, which you can't see unless you reload the page.
3. You hit reply (and the latest reply is shown in the topic review field, but no one ever sees that one)
4. You post your reply and do not get a prompt about the new reply.

I think that may have something to do with why you don't see new repliy notification thingies sometimes. But I didn't design the feature, so I can't be 100% sure.

I usually double-check the posts that I'm responding to in the replies list, so I've never had this problem.
