Spring 2014 Painting Challenge

Post by popisdead »

Hello folks!

The last painting competition was a tremendous success! Twelve entries!!! You people are great :D I want to personally thank each person who entered. You help make this community what it is.

Now that we've gotten our feet and paint brushes wet it's time to focus on the last stretch for <insert rumour here>.

Your spring season challenge is

The Kitchen Sink

Anything that you would use in a Wood Elf game is fair game.

The point is to finish one last thing before <insert rumour here>. The goal is for the community to use these as motivation to having a painted army. If the rumours are true this is your last chance to finish something before the new book comes out. Think of it as one final push before we get a new wave of releases.

Units must be minimum size.

Some examples are:
Finish a half-painted character/unit you started or bought any number of years ago
Start a character/unit because you like it
Finish the last (few) model(s) from a unit that you just haven't gotten around to
Paint a new whole new unit because you can
Base a unit that you painted but never did the bases for and it would help
Paint freehand on a banner even if you finished the banner bearer years ago
Paint a non-GW model
Convert and paint a unit/character
Scratch build something and paint it
Paint your free 6" forest (which can always be used as terrain if we lose it next book)
Have a great eagle (or whatever) with a boring base but you own a fancy resin base? Paint the base, take a picture of both and enter that!

PM me a link to your image so they are secret until voting starts. Images must have no dimension larger than 900 pixels. You can have no more than 4 images of an entry.

Also the winners gets a shiny medal attached to their profile =)

Closing date April 30th. You must have sent me PM with a link to your image no later than April 30th.

Is there a chance that a different picture can be posted to show more of the model, maybe after a week or so?

Yes, just make sure the images are all the size limit. I've updated the original thread.

I really like this idea, I might find one of my already done models to enter to just to be apart of this. But I love the idea of these contests helping people to find that extra little thing to make their models stand out and show character. The model I'm converting at the moment is beginning to look like my best ever work... but won't be done anywhere near in time
