Combat.

Warhawk Riders are monstrous cavalry, so can fight 2 of them against the war machine. When charging, both rider and mount have same profile, so I'll roll them together.

2 Warhawk Riders, 4+ to hit:
1d6 >= 4
1: 3 ... failure
2: 5 ... success
3: 3 ... failure
4: 4 ... success

sum: 15, average: 3.75, success: 2/4 50%
Str4 so 4+ to wound
1d6 >= 4
1: 1 ... failure
2: 4 ... success

sum: 5, average: 2.50, success: 1/2 50%
One Str4 wound on the Organ Gun.

Dryads, 10 of them enter the house.

10 Dryads, 20 WS4 attacks:
1d6 >= 4
1: 4 ... success
2: 1 ... failure
3: 3 ... failure
4: 3 ... failure
5: 3 ... failure
6: 2 ... failure
7: 5 ... success
8: 1 ... failure
9: 6 ... success
10: 3 ... failure
11: 6 ... success
12: 6 ... success
13: 3 ... failure
14: 2 ... failure
15: 3 ... failure
16: 5 ... success
17: 6 ... success
18: 1 ... failure
19: 4 ... success
20: 6 ... success

sum: 73, average: 3.65, success: 9/20 45%
9 Str4 hits, 4+ to wound:
1d6 >= 4
1: 6 ... success
2: 2 ... failure
3: 3 ... failure
4: 1 ... failure
5: 6 ... success
6: 3 ... failure
7: 1 ... failure
8: 1 ... failure
9: 6 ... success

sum: 29, average: 3.22, success: 3/9 33%
Damn, only 3 Str4 wounds :/

Hit me back and roll Ld if needed.

Here is the map for your turn, you may remove my combat casualties when you roll your attacks.

And don't forget the fear test for your Rangers!

So 1 Dryad dead and you fail the steadfast test, you flee and I will enter the building with the Dryads.

One wound for the Warhawk Riders too and you hold with the Organ Gun crew.

Uploaded an updated map, just roll the flee distance with your rangers and it is your turn.

Here is the updated file.

I realized something after our discussion earlier on runic/magical/flaming weapons. ALL of my artillery (except the Organ Gun) has runes and is therefore runic and magical. As I understand it, that means that all those anti cannon ward saves by the treekin (4-5 of them so far) weren't really allowed by the rules. :cry: :tear: :cry:

I'd cry myself a river, but I doubt I'd gain any tactical advantages from it, so I won't bother. /sighs

It will be a good lesson for me in the future.

I see, I thought that only the fire cannons were magical, because the cannonballs were magical, in the same way that a magical bow do not have magical attacks because the arrows are not magical.

So, charges!

Treekin charge the Warriors.
Treeman 2 charge the Warriors.
Dryads 1 charge Cannon 2
Scouts charge the Cannon 1
Warhawk Riders charge the Master Engineer.

Reactions?

First, keep your Treekin - I'll put them back on if need be. It can serve as a lesson to me. :!:

Second, not only the war machines attacks, but also the crew attacks are magical/flaming - another oddity, but its true.

Lastly, hold with everything, stand and shoot with ME.

Interesting, crew with flaming and magical attacks XD

Ok, I'll keep the Treekin if you say so.

The ME cannot S&S because the Warhawk Riders are too close.

Treekin charge!
2d6 +5 >= 11
5 + 6 + 5 = 16 ... success
Treeman 2 charge!
2d6 +5 >= 9
6 + 2 + 5 = 13 ... success
(Terror Test needed)

Dryads 1 charge!
2d6 +5 >= 12
3 + 5 + 5 = 13 ... success
And Scouts and WH Riders auto success in the charges.

Normal movements:

GG1 swift reform
2d6 <= 9
3 + 3 = 6 ... success
GG2 swift reform
2d6 <= 9
6 + 4 = 10 ... failure
Reroll with BSB
2d6 <= 9
1 + 3 = 4 ... success
Dryads get out of the house and Treeman 1 moves inside the forest out of the front arc of the IronBreakers.

Magic Phase!

Winds of Magic
2d6
6 + 1 = 7
Channeling
1d6
6
Yeah, 6 for me and 9 for you XD

Let's try an IF with Dwellers on your Ironbreakers!

Dwellers on the Ironbreakers, 6 dice!!!
6d6 >= 21
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 4 = 20 ... failure
Forgot the +4, it is a success but not an IF, so you may use one of your runes :P

Combat, let's suppose that your Warriors pass the Terror test.

First combat, Dryads vs Cannon2.

3 Str4 wounds, so they are destroyed. I will reform after combat to stay out of the arc of sight of the Hammerers.

Second combat, Warhawk Riders vs Master Engineer.

1 Str 4 wound on him. And another Str4 wound from the stomps.

Third combat, Scouts vs Cannon1.

No wounds, you hit me back with 1 crewman.

And the large combat, Treeman + Treekin vs Warriors.

6 Str5 wounds from the Treekin.
2 Str6 wounds from the Treeman.

2 Str5 wounds from Treekin stomps
1 Str6 wound from Treeman thunderstomp

Don't forget your fear and terror tests.

So the Warriors failed the Terror test and flee, rolled a 7, but the scouts were there so they had to move forward and they fled out of the board.

A lot of killing, and a new turn for the dwarves to take revenge!

I'm sorry about my neglect of our match. I have been a bit burned out on WH, even after winning the tourney. I massacred my first two opponents and the third resigned (though I felt he had the upper hand). I used a real gunline. :nod: 2x 10 Thunderers, 2 Organ Guns, 2 Cannons, a GT, a Gyro, RS, Thane BSB, a Lorpedo (unkillable Dwarf Lord with five hammerers behind him) and 22 shield warriors.

On to my turn:
Hammerers charge dryads, and Dragon Slayer charges WHR. RS fails to charge the WHR.

IB reform to face Treeman.

Thunderers kill 2 GG and the BT kills another, so panic test for GG1.

Rangers fire on the Dryads in front of them, causing one ward save.

I am not sure about the Dragon Slayer charge due to his facing. Anyway, choose the order of the combats and I will make my attacks.

I believe that characters do not have facing, however, after rereading the rules, I wonder if its a local house rule in our area. I didn't find anything saying they did, but I didn't find anything saying they didn't.

Either way, you can call it.

Order of combats, WHR first, dryads second.

In 8th edition all units charge and shoot only using the front facing, no exceptions.

I've already made the dryads and scout combat, the scout did nothing and the Dryads killed the cannon and made a single Str4 wound on the Dwarf Lord.

Now the Warhawks Riders, 1 Str4 wound on the catapult.

Okay, I changed the DS move to a normal move.

Cannon 2 is dead, but you will lose combat. The lord and hammerer saved their wounds, and the lord killed two dryads (magical S6 wounds) while the hammerers caused 4 non-magical wounds for you. I have 2 standards, flank, and charge for a +4.

GT failed to wound a WHR, and passed its test.

Cannon1's crewman and engineer killed the last scout.

Your turn, sir.

8 dangerous terrain test for the fleeing dryads, and they are all ok.

The Warhawk Riders need to make a panic test because of the destroyed scout unit.

Passed. And now the Bolt Thrower must take a panic test because of the destroyed cannon.

Turn 4 Wood Elves!

Dryads 2 charge the Rangers, they are too close for a S&S reaction.

Treekin charge the Cannon 1.

No more charges. Both targets hold and the charges succeed.
