Here is a roll for terrain type:

Which is Athel Loren:
Athel Loren and other dense, perhaps magical, forests: Wood Elves.
All of the table is assumed to be covered in woods. Each player must place a straightish road that passes from one player edge to the other and passes through the a 12" diameter circle at the center of the table. The second road must cross the first and must leave the table more than 12" from the first road at each end. Each road is 4" wide. The road has a strip of open ground 4" wide on each side, except where it might cross through another terrain peice, which can be placed across the road. Wood Elves do not get their 'free' wood in Athel Loren.
2. Crag
3. Sacred pool. Small lake surrounded by 3" strip of open ground.
4. Shallow river. Bridges where it crosses roads.
5. Forested hill - not Wood Elf terrain (they ignore the trees, but are slowed by the rocks and boulders and steepness)
6 Glade. Open ground.
7. Sacred stones or glade. Standing stones in open ground.
8. Peasant farm
9. Ruin.
10. Ravine.
11. Village.
12. Watchtower. Surrounded by 6" strip of open ground.


I'm going to have to raise a hand and ask for help regarding how this terrian type works. The whole board is covered in Woods?

Here are rolls for adding terrain. I will do quadrants 1, 3, 5. In order:

Yup. Almost completely. There are 2 roads with an intersection also. To make things easier, AMA has said that an additional 6"inches of open terrain is on both sides of the road. I'm not exactly good at doing terrain, so could you do mine for me?

Rolling "2d6" 3 times

1: 1 + 4 = 5
2: 2 + 5 = 7
3: 2 + 2 = 4
Small river, glade, and Forested hill.

I'm working on the map, but I just wanted to comment on how absurd it is that the Asrai, and indeed Athel Loren itself, would allow a ROAD to be running right through it.

ImageThe things in the top and bottom middle are glades right? Also,, On the forested hills, Do I get -1 for shooting out of it? Can I shoot into the Forest below. If so, I'd rather deploy both the RBTs on the edge of the forest on the forested hill. I will change it if you get it wrong.

So it goes:

I rolled 1: 6, 3: 10, 5: 5. You rolled 2: 5, 4: 7, 6: 4.

So the top and bottom middles were supposed to represent hills, the blobs on the right were supposed to be glades, and the other two are obvious (I hope). The brown surrounding the roads is open ground. And the green everywhere else is forest.

Even if you were on top of a forested hill, you would still only be able to see 2" through the forest that is covering the hill.

With that in mind, do you want to leave those RBTs where they are, or move them? I'll wait to put my next unit down unit I hear your comments.

but would I be able do see all the things in open terrain on top of a hill? If not, I want them where they are. If so, I want them on the hill.

I'm sorry I misunderstood your question.

My understanding (which may be wrong) is he the hill is covered in forest, so that if you were on the hill, your view would still be limited to 2", because there is forest on the hill.

You might want to check with the higher ups. For now I'll assume What I wrote above is correct, and carry on with deployment... you can move them if you get an answer from AMA or Bethir or whomever that contradicts my understanding.
