WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)

Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
Here's our map in attachment format just in case.
I think you still have scouts to deploy, then you win the roll for turn automatically (because of your +1), so it'll be your turn.

Okay?
Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
I thought the dark green on the edges (i.e. where your shadow warriors and Knights are located) was supposed to represent forest, which would make marching difficult.
Also we need to roll for spells. My spell singer takes Treesinging.

Okay. But, my Knights have a banner which alows them to treat diff terrain as open terrain... Also, shadow warriors have no penalty for moving though the forest cause they are skirmishers right?

Yes! you are right, I think.

Um, I don't think I can play well in Athel Loren, and I'm slow because I can usually only get internet at school, And because I'm going to lose any way, I was wondering if you really wanted to continue. It is your choice, but I think I'm going to be a bit slow. If you think you have a chance to beat t12, I'll play, but otherwise I think you deserve a massacre.

I can't catch T12.
If you want to submit your concession to the results thread, I would accept.

Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
Mathematically, you'd need to get every VP available without losing any of your own in order to catch t12. It is possible, but you'd need a supreme effort to do it
It's a shame your group has to end like this.

Well, I can attempt to rig it, but I don't think that is fair. I, like Shiodome don't want to play in Athel Loren. It will just be painfully slow if I did this match in Athel Loren. Plus, I hate woods. I just hate them.
Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
Mathematically, I may be able to catch T12, but I don't see that happening.
It seems like people don't want to play in Athel Loren, maybe AMA should just remove it as an option. It is kind of the odd man out in AMA's list.
If you concede, I think VP's should be 1500-0, which I think is the most fair. Theoretically if your army withdrew, I could argue for an extra 300 VP's (100 for general, 100 x2 for 2 table quarters) which would give me 1800, still not enough to catch T12.
Like I said, I would just submit a 1500-0 score and ask AMA to consider removing Athel Loren as an option.

Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
I think removing it is a valid suggestion. A lot of people have complained about it, even Wood Elf players, and it is hugely incapacitating for some armies. It may be easier for players just to reroll Athel Loren results for something else.

See, to me if you are going to allow re-rolls, then why not let players just choose their own field of battle?Beithir Seun wrote:It may be easier for players just to reroll Athel Loren results for something else.
For the casual games, it isn't a big deal, but for the tournament, we were instructed to roll for terrain on the chart which included Athel Loren - that's why I say maybe just remove it. Otherwise, having a rule that allows to re-roll away from Athel Loren if desired seems to defeat the point of rolling for terrain.

No it doesn't. If both players are happy to play in Athel Loren then there's no problem. Allowing a reroll and choosing your own field of battle are not the same thing. Rerolling and removing Athel Loren all together essentially amount to the same thing, but simply rerolling means that playrers can still play in Athel Loren if they roll it and are happy with the result.

Maybe I should re-phrase: It seems to me that allowing players to re-roll on Athel Loren rolls defeats the point of rolling for terrain.Beithir Seun wrote: No it doesn't. It isn't random if you have a choice.

Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
You don't have a choice; you just get to ignore rolls of Athel Loren. Like I said, removing it or rerolling it amounts to the same thing so it doesn't really matter which way you do things, except that rerolling allows the choice of whether to fight there or elsewhere. You still have to roll randomly though.

Well, I guess I will play on Athel Loren. I think the miz might get 2300 points if he completly massacres me
I'll do my phases in 4th period.

You're making it out like you get to choose exactly which terrain to fight in; that is not the case at all, and you should be able to see that that isn't what I'm saying. Choosing to reroll the terrain is not the same as choosing which terrain you fight in.

Re: WFO Tournament Round III: Caledrith(HE) Vs. The Miz(WE)
You're right, but it is allowing you to choose which terrain NOT to fight in. I would rather see Athel Loren removed as an option than to see it allowed to continue as optional.Beithir Seun wrote:Choosing to reroll the terrain is not the same as choosing which terrain you fight in.
Again, I think this is germane only to talks regarding the tournament.
