Post by t12161991 »

Here's the map I'm going to use with Unicorn in our next battle :D
Legend:
Blue is water, Green is forest, Dark brown is bridges, and the light brown is ruined walls, so hard cover and can be seen over by anything
MyMap.PNG
PS: We've both agreed on it

Edit: Sorry, I'm just out of it at the moment and I think you can tell the basics AMA or are you going soft in the brain ;)

2 more...

1: All is open ground except gray, and the green which is forest
2:Gray blob @ left end is hill, gray lines are obstacles (on both sides), and the two round things in the middle are impassable cliffs. With my very limited artistic skills, its supposed to look a little like siege lines

I'd like to see a battle with this terrain, it would be extremely difficult.

This thread should be useful not buried . . . so here's some contributions.
One that I did. Should be self explanatory: hills, woods, river, bridges.

And here's some I collected but aren't stored here yet.

Let's add some more maps and maybe get this thread stickied?

OK here's a couple from me:

Image

This one is adapted from the one that Herald is currently using in his battle against Unicorn, complete with river crossings of various depths

Image

This one is fairly self-explanatory. The stream counts as open ground...

Image

This one is the one that me and Almundis are currently using, again fairly self-explanatory

@Beithir, I like how the map we are using at the moment comes complete with bonus archers. :D

I disagree that the last one is self explanitory.

Is there supposed to be a difference between the dark brown and light brown areas?

Please state what ALL the terrain is.

Green may be scrub, brush, woods, forest, jungle ---
Brown may be????????

I, and 12 - 16% of the male population, have a colour vision defect, so say where the features you are definig are also.

Maybe we could come up with some sort of standard map code, like real maps have.

OK fine

The dark brown in the centre is marshland (difficult terrain)
Mid-brown are hills, except the parts across the river which are bridges (two of)
Green should be pretty obviously woods...

Just for the hell of it, here's another map. Green is forest, grey is hills. The strange looking circle thing is a ruined tower. Difficult terrain, and the black outlines are impassible and block Line of Sight.

Image

Here's a new map. Sort of a peasant village theme with asymmetric terrain.

Also, I'm working on a set of terrain templates (that I used to quickly make this map). In case anyone wants to use them, here they are. I plan on adding more to them eventually.

Some I made:
Dark green is forest.
Yellow is low vegetation, soft cover, doesn't block los.
Orange is 1-story building.
Brown is hill.
Light brown is bridge.
Light blue is shallow water, difficult terrain.
Dark blue is deep water, impassible / very difficult.
