Scratch Built Treekin Pictures

Well I've convinced myself I need 8 Treekin from my FS army so I started making some. I based them more on a pine/fir tree . . . perhaps a "mountain kin" from the pine crags. What do you think?

The painting scheme did not uh work out so well, so I'll be scrubing down and redoing that but I'm generally happy with the overall look, it is a little big so I will be using this one for an eldar perhaps.

The spite is a GW warmaster witch elf + wings which turned out pretty cool. I gunked this one up too much with paint though, next pass should look better. I ordered some other warmaster blisters as well and with a couple glade guard/dryad sprues I should be able to add a nice array of spites.

There are some more photos here if you are interested:

The detail is overwhelmed in the photos, It dosn't actuall look so crowded there are some more photos at the link on the bottom where you can get a bit of a better look.

8 Treeman? Time to bring out the Salamanders

From what you've done, I see it as quite a good job. I'm always a supporter of home-made stuff, as it's cheaper, and always original. Your Pictures could be a bit better though.

Nah he mentioned 8 Treekin and maybe one being a Treeman Ancient. ;)

I find them sculpted quite pleasant, but the color scheme of the painted Treekin has to be redone mate. They fit nicely with the new Treeman (in the box)

I really like the sculpt (not so much the painting). I love the randomness of it.

I don't want to sound rude, but i really dislike your Treekin: it looks like you just glued every piece of plastic sprue, twigs and wire you had together into one big mess and painted it utterly random...it lookc messy, half-done and cheap.

Again, I don't want to sound harsh, but that's what I think...

Kida, Thanks for your insightful and well thought out reply.

The Way Watcher, yes you are right, but that's what happens when you post things to the internet. People fire off with anonmity. You kinda gotta realize its going to happen before you post.

And yes the painting sucks, its says that it in the main post. It was basically a test model I put together in a couple hours. I'm going to make a couple more and hopefully zero in on a better look. Yes with less "crap" added on.

The ones that are painted are already finished? I mean, if you used some thing to wrap around the Treekin metal wire you maybe get such a color. You still have to paint it though? (as I see some are still in their metal wire form..)

I just have 1, those are all pictures of the same model in various stages. I think I'll just wack the painted pictures ones until I redo them.

It is actually SPITE as a matter of fact. Look in the Army book.
