Berinhart's Wood Elf/Bretonnian army

Post by Berinhart »

Glad to see that asrai will live on and with that good news (coupled with the crash of warseer a few weeks back) I have decided to bring my army plog here. I have found a great deal of inspiration on asrai and I hope to play my part.

Quick army overview - My army is a sort of elf-human hybrid consisting of 3 parts: The inhabitants of an autumnal birch/aspen forest, the winter warriors that dwell in the mountains above, and lastly a small contingent of soldiers from these two regions that have sworn fealty to the royalty of the kingdom and therefore serve as a type of royal army.

I have a fair amount of my army completed so please bear with me as I catch my plog up to date. A few things to note, my painting is not the best, and I have yet to settle on the basing procedures for my models so some of them are quite messy.

Okay off to the pictures! First things first some glade guard

Thanks for posting. I like the pictures and as far as the bases go I would be thrilled if I could get mine to look half as good. I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks PointedDoom! It's not that I don't like the bases so much as I plan on making nice and tidy ones when I finish my army and build my display board, so that the unit's bases match where they are standing! Also, I went the baking soda + PVA glue route for the snow, and even after sealing it, it still turned out a bit crumbly. Not to mention the browning effect. So I think I'll use woodland scenics snow when the time comes to do it again.

Next up, my great eagles

Nice! I particularly like the autumnal capes - very vivid colours. How many units do you have all-told?

Thanks LadyLoec! I have about 28 units in total and 30 characters...but I'm trying really hard to not let it grow any more!

Now for some more pictures:

Just a few more finished models, first up my Alastriel model from reaper. I love Werner Klocke's scuplts and couldn't resist finding room in my army for them.

Next up my sorceress conversion

My handmaiden conversion with hammer

And finally my sorceress from Avatars of War, converted with lightning shooting from her hand, so that I could try some object-source lighting

Love the winter damsel (though it's a crime if her name isn't Elsa). Like you, my WEs have a DE sorceress, bretonnian damsel, and DE assassin among their ranks - Nothing wrong with the woodies' characters, but some of the other minis are too good not to include!
