PVC for sculpting?

Post by thunderbow »

So, I decided to take a swing at sculpting and was wondering in what form and where do you buy PVC sheets thin enough to be used as a base for shields, swords and such. Should I buy a table and hack off pieces as I see fit or is there a more civilized solution? :p

There is one tool you could use which would cut it easily, but it is a more elegant tool for a more civilized age :sexy: (crosshilts optional).

I would try to find some sheet styrene rather than PVC, from what I know it is easier to work with. Try and find a 0.02 thickness.

Nah, I'm more of a double-bladed (beamed?) kind of guy anyway... Do you know in what kind of store might I find sheets of styrene? As it seems, I'm not much of a DIY kind of a guy either (but still dead set on sculpting a mini).

Check your plastic recycling before you pay any money. Drink bottles, ice cream container lids etc can be what you need. For slightly thicker I have an endless supply of contact lenses solution containers.
