I don't know of any, but honestly, I think you should be making your own tutorial... your horses look very convincing to me.

I'm generally not a fan of Autumn themed armies, but yours is terrific! Very crisp and clean. Really nice work. Keep it up! What are you going to do for your bases?

Thanks Tuladin. I am trying to incorporate the bright fall colors without going over the top. I am glad you are enjoying them. For the Glade Rider bases, I am going to continue using textured paint, drybrushing, static grass, wood pieces and some fall leaves. These are more of a practice run for when I eventually get into the "special models" like Orion, Treeman, Sisters of Twilight, etc.

Here are the 14 horses I have completed so far. I took a bit of a break from painting but have just recently got back into it.

The horses look really good. What color have you used on the eyes and do you have any advice on painting white horses?

Thanks Etheneus,
For the eyes I use black with a little spot of white. Normally, you don't see the whites of a horses eye unless they are spooked. If you paint just black it looks kind if weird- so I just put a little dot of white by the back corner.
As far as horses go, the more subtle your color transition the better. Don't base it with a really dark color and highlight like crazy. For a white horse, I would base with a medium to light gray and then highlight up from there. I also don't use inks on the horses body- just the hair and the tails. There are probably tons of different ways to do it- just practice and try different things. There are also lots of different articles and tutorials online to get you familiar with techniques. That's probably the best advice I can give. You don't know until you try.

Well, I tried to make my unicorn white but I used ink and thought it looked, well "creami". Will take you're advice next time. Saved it by many layers of highlight

Looking good so far Etheneus. I should recommend this tutorial, it has actually served me quite well.

Also, I have started to appreciate the use of a "wet-palette". Maybe look into one as well. They are pretty cheap and great to have.

I finally have another two horses completed. I haven't been painting much lately-now that it's summer, its hard to justify sitting in the basement painting. Only 6 horses left to paint and I can move onto the riders :)

I have another two completed. Slow progress, but moving forward none the less. I tried to add a bit of a "dirty" color scheme to one of the horses. For the spotting I tried loading the brush with watered down black and flicking the bristles. Not too shabby in my opinion. Might try it a little more for a couple of the remaining steeds.

Thanks Aemir_II- I haven't been doing much painting lately. I finally picked up a brush last night and want to finish the last 4 horses- then I can move onto the riders.

I especially like that last white horse, I did mine multi-colored and kind of wish I'd done more of a pure-breed theme with them all looking like that!

Nicholas Nitro- I was thinking about doing them all in a similar way, but I personally like the idea of a bunch of random colors. Seeing as I am going for a fall theme, I like the idea of lots of different colors and combinations. Have you posted pics?

No I still haven't finished anything haha. The idea was to move through every model with systematic tasks, like painting the hair and faces white, then painting eyes and skin and hair, then cloaks and quivers, then base plates, then boots and clothes. I'm still on that last phase, slowly but surely they are coming together but it'll be awhile before I can start any of the details or touch-ups.

That's a good approach actually. That's how I completed all 60+ of my Glade Guard. It can be such a daunting task but when you do it systematically its amazing what you can get done. Keep up the progress and don't forget to share some photos.

Finally finished the horses for the Glade Riders. Painting progress was almost none existent but I finally gained some momentum. Now I can get ready for the riders which I am very excited to do.

Also, sorry for the bad cell phone photos; I am in the process of building a photo/ light diffuser box for pictures.

Finally got the Glade Riders ready to be painted. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the models and inserted a straightened out paper clip (secured by a small amount of glue). I then put the clip into a cork and primed the models chaos black. I have 30 riders to paint and must admit I am very excited to get started.

That looks so funny when you have 24x of them waiting in line :D

It is good to leave small wire under the rider and drill a hole to the saddle, if you dont plan to glue the riders on the horses. It is just so much easier to transport them separately.

I have 6 other ones but they were out of tbe picture. I was debating whether or not to attach them or do as you said and drill a hole into the saddle. Makes more sense for transportation.

Hey guys,

Progress has still been slower than I would like so hopefully I will be able to change that soon. I am in the process of getting the Glade Riders coated in the "base" colors. Afterwards, I will be doing inking and then moving onto the highlights, etc.
