Bark from al different kind of trees. Just search. I have types that look a lot like cork and others work really well for imitating logs. :)

I find 10 euros for a 10x10 plate of cork pretty expensive sso I searched for alternatives at our wood logs stack :D

Hey Guys,

Made a movement tray today and also based my glade guards :D I'm happy with the result. It's the first movement tray I made.

Looks really nice. I love seeing paint jobs like this which are really defined and clean. Plus the bases and movement trays are well detailed. Maybe its just my taste, but I would have preferred a little bit more contrast to all the subdued greens and browns in the Glade guard, but perhaps thats just the photos which dont show it properly. The style you've done the eternal guard in on the other hand are brilliant.

Definitely want to see more.

Thanks PlayonWords. I see what you mean. I personally like more contrast too but to keep the glade guard as shady as possible I wanted to give the different colors the same tone.

Wil's Autumn Wood Elf Army : Update Spellweaver, Wolf Pack i

Post by WilcoH »

Hey Guys, finished my spellweaver this weekend and based + basecoated the remaining wild riders. Just let me know what you think :D

I also was thinking about creating a wolf pack (fenrisian wolves) lead by the Handmaiden of the everqueen.
I want to give her a wolfhide on her shoulders with green stuff. I like adding another kind of animals to make the wood elves real kings of the forests.
What do you guys think of this idea?

You could try some kind of cat, Tiger, lion or jaguar. Look at the King of wars models if you want cheaper or the HE lion chariot if you want to stick with GW

I've got some Fenrisian wolves coming to do as an Eternal Guard filler under the same premise, hadn't thought of using the handmaiden, but I love the model!

Great idea, could even be a glade rider proxy if you wanted really.

Jeez, what colour do you use to shade and highlight orange? They're awesome.

Thanks for your kind comments. I will keep you updated :D

@Aemir

I just use the citadel oranges.
The base depends on whether it's gonna be a quick paint or a more detailed paint.
For a quick paint job i first use vallejo beige red as a basecoat because the oranges cover terrible. Otherwise I start with a orange/red brown like dark flesh and just build it up to Troll slayer orange (blazing orange) and then build it up to the highlight with Fire dragon bright (Fiery orange)

I hope that helped :D

Well done!

Fantastic unit tray.
Is the handmaiden going to be an Eternal Guard Champion? or a Hero model?

Not really, and with Age of Sigmar so close anything I say is really just a guess. But you are on the right track, paint the model first, and then use it how you want to. I have ~8 different hero models that I rotate around. With AoS's increased focus on individual models and less on cohesive units, you'll need to take extra care that a model is easily identifiable for what it is without a unit to give it context. Especially especially depending on how far we are able to mix and match different elven units.

"Obviously this is an Eternal Guard Champ because it's in a unit of EG."
Compared to
"Handmaidens don't get Asrai spears. It's not a handmaiden, it's an eternal guard. Oh, it looks like a handmaiden. I've told you 4 times now."
