Really nice work there, I really like your pale blue glowing parts. Your Araloth is pretty perfectly executed.

Looking forward to seeing your army form.

Very good use of your "blue" on your Birch Brother. Just enough to animate the figure, but not "way overboard" like in the "how to paint a tree-man" article in White Dwarf. I just may have to "borrow" your scheme :sexy: . Thanks for sharing!

Awesome stuff! You might want to try painting the dirt. It'll tie the whole piece together. Try a dark brown and then dry brush a lighter color. Love the treemen with spears!

I love how you have painted the birch. It's quite cool and original.

1 suggestion. Change your method of the pebbly tan colored dirt on the bases. In my eyes it looks undone. You could try mixing it with a finer sand material then putting it on then paint and drybrush. The rest of the base looks good but the tan pebbles just look out of place.

That's a good suggestion and I may go back and do that, but I want to get all of the army painted before I start modifying their bases. It'll do for now.

That treeman must not be fun to store when going to tournaments and such.
Let them shoot first, we'll shoot best.

Yeah, no kidding! I have to be extra careful when I take them anywhere. I mostly play for fun at my LGS. There are a few tournaments around that I have attended, but not very often. They wear me out and if someone insists on a rule, I usually let then have it because I don't see the point in getting upset over a game. Tournament players will try to take advantage of this so it puts a bad taste in my mouth for tournaments.

Great work with Treemen conversion and awesome painting overall.

I especially like the Birch Brother #1 and I have to admitt I had something similar in mind for my Undeath Ancient.
Do you think the Durthu head can fit in that pose or are we limited to the regular treeman head with that neck?

Thanks, guys!

@tinkertee: He's standing on parts of a Gyrocopter. It actually comes as part of the kit. I also have a Dwarf army so I recognized it rather quickly and added a few more Gyro bitz that I had left over to make it look a little more like a crash without taking too much away from the Treeman himself. There is also a broken Dwarf shield and axe by his other leg, indicating a Dwarf's last stand, but they are a little hard to see in these pics.

@NonnoSte: The parts with this kit are totally interchangeable but you need to be really careful when mixing and matching them. They are soooooo easy to get mixed up! I really studied the instructions and after I had in mind which arm, leg, head, etc. I wanted, I cut them off the sprue and made sure that they would actually fit together. I didn't have to use any green stuff, but that might make some of the transitions a little easier. I don't know if you noticed, but I took a little liberty with the head of the Birch Brother #2 and cut his mouth along the jagged line and then attached it back with some green stuff and super glue so that he'd appear to be roaring. There's a lot that can be done with these heads. I think this kit is one of the best for mixing and matching different sculpts.

Ultimately, I plan on making an Anchient Treeman with a broad stance (legs firmly "planted" - :D ) and using both hands to hold his staff up high above his head. The Birch Brothers can be his bodyguards. That's why I gave them "Spears" and wanted them to look very dynamic (as though they were spinning them around while fighting, or leaping into combat, ready to skewer an enemy).
