The Brine Woods.

Post by robtion »

Hi i am Rob, 32, live in Australia, and have always been a big fan of the Wood Elves, ever since growing up listening to and reading the hobbit I guess.

I am more of a painter than a gamer, but do play the occasional game of WH also. My painting skills are intermediate, not amazing, but I enjoy it.

I have a vampire Counts army which also has a forest theme with plenty of dryad bits and pieces mixed in. You can check them out at Carpe Noctem if you like in my Plog 'An Evil Forest by the Sea'.

http://www.vampirecounts.net/Thread-An- ... by-the-Sea

My Wood elf army will likely come together slowly as im kind of busy with work and family, but I will post pics here for any who are interested in following progress. I would be happy for any comments, feedback, or discussion.

First couple of wip pics of my first unit, blood vestals turned wardancers. Still not finished with these need to add more tattoos and more of the forestry dancers, as well as some more basing.

Those Raging Heroes - Blood Vestals are a treat. (Wardancers anyone?) Now somebody explain to me why GW can't seem to do figures that look that good.
So it's no longer the BRB, now it's the DERB. (Digital Edition Rule Book) I am all in for 9th Age.

Like a certain other type of dancer, my war dancers have little need for clothing :sexy:

Thanks for the replies. I will post some finished pics of this unit once done. Am waiting on a big bunch of Mini's to be delivered, but I have another 10 'sci fi' blood vestals that need converting to make a second unit of war dancers, and I have raging heroes mantis warriors that will be dryads.

Really wanted a coolminiornot elf lady on giant owl, but looks like they are sold out. Does anyone know if they are likely to restock them?

Slow progress with the war dancers as I have had no time/energy with work and stuff lately.

Thought I would post a wip of the awesome treeman I got in the mail yesterday. It is the Scribor Treeman and I have just added some dryad bits and modified the base a little.

I really love the mini though, high quality sculpt with lots of little details. I just hope I can do it justice when I paint it. Will see how long it takes but hopefully I'll get it done this week and post the finished product.

Sure I'll put an elf next to it when I post the finished PIC. Should only be a day or two.

I really enjoyed your Vampire Counts Army. The background has really enriched your army and I suspect it's the thought that you put into the story behind the models that allows you to be so creative. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you develop your Wood Elves.

Thanks Tenaka, glad you liked the VC's, I'm a fan of your silver forest elves

Yep I have ideas percolating for the background to my wood elves by the sea, hopefully it keeps the creativity flowing. We'll see.

Alright I think I have completed my first treeman, and I am quite happy with how he turned out. This was my first attempt at painting glowing eyes and I think they look okay. I am considering adding some small patches of moss but am leaving it for now. Would appreciate any comments or feedback ;)
Added some mushrooms just for fun.

Nice the pose on elf with the bow. and your challenge submission is a lovely little model! The current picture of her is not the best though, it's tilded for me.. and a little bit too much of your window and to little of the model :)
