Fiery lava..

I'm still working hard on a proper presentation of painted Phoenicia, so today I will just show you a small, but very important part of my simultaneous project (it's almost a finished one).

This lava base was quite easy to make and in my opinion the effect is really nice. =)

Dare to guess which army it was made for? =) Would you like me to prepare a modelling and painting lava base tutorial?

A hail of deadly arrows.. (360 SPIN)

Today I present you the first part of my Display entry for Bananalicious contest on Massive Voodoo. I learned about it only two weeks earlier and since I had only so little time to sign in with finished miniatures (the contest ended during the 15th of February), I didn't know whether I should participate in it at all. In the end, I've managed to enter Fantasy and Diorama categories. For Fantasy, I've chosen 5 miniatures and the first one I'm presenting you today.

This Glade Guard was given just some additional highlights, a few fixes and a realistic bow. I didn't have time for anything spectacular, but I'm quite shocked how a simple bowstring and an arrow conversion can improve the overall look of Glade Guard.

Click below for my first 360° spin photo. I hope you like it! =)

Capricious and cruel.. (360 SPIN)

Just as I've promised, this is the second miniature I've entered Bananalicious contest Fantasy category with.

This Wood Elves Branchwraith conversion was my first pick and she didn't require too much work. I've repainted her runes (I'm still learning how to do it properly) and eyes, giving her even fiercer appearance. To finish her, I've added some more highlights to the whole model and some grass on the base.

Click below for another 360° spin photo - the improved one. =)

That's some really impressive photography and display for the 360 spin. I think the colours work really well but if I were to make just one observation, the glow from the runes on the branch seems a little heavy and therefore more like solid colour on the branch - I think you could really tone down the colour around the runes. All in all though I think it's a great looking model.

To Tenaka: I'm still learning how to make proper runes and you are absolutely right about them. If you compare those runes to the previous ones (http://thefantasyhammer.blogspot.com/20 ... rsion.html), I think that they were much better looking on the model. I guess I just need to do another repaint.

The Wild Hunt begins.. (360 SPIN)
Image
Today is another Wild Hunt day and I present you a mostly repainted Wood Elves Wild Rider (click if you want to see how he looked as a test model - http://thefantasyhammer.blogspot.com/20 ... rsion.html).

I really wanted him for Bananalicious contest, so I had to improve most of his highlights (some parts were totally repainted). I have also added a rune on his cloak and on hist chest (it was to flat in my opinion). I should have painted some better runes, but I was to concerned about their meaning and picked Tha'Lui (or Talu) rune, meaning "hatred, vengeance".

Click below for another 360° spin photo - I'm really getting better at this. =)

Congratulations to Romero for guessing which army was the Lava Base made for! =) Space Marines look really great when standing on lava bases and I couldn't resist to paint my Force Commander (he was standing on my shelf since Horus Heresy) for Bananalicious contest (it would be boring if all my entries included only Fantasy miniatures).

This is my first try at Warhammer 40k, so the Ultramarines were a natural pick. I know that Dark Angels are the ones in favor now, but I had no hood for the Force Commander. =)

He is still not quite finished, so be ready for an update sometime soon.

Finally, it's time to present a painted Guild of Harmony Phoenicia, the fifth miniature I entered Bananalicious contest Fantasy category with. I'm still preparing her complete painting tutorial, but you can find individual parts here.

I do believe that Phoenicia is my best miniature in a display for Fantasy category and all my hope for getting a medal depends on her. =)

As I've written before, I've also entered Diorama category in Bananalicious contest. It was a very secret project and one I was slowly finishing, until I've learned about Bananalicious. Most of my time and attention focused on this Diorama then, but I think it was absolutely worth the effort. =)

This Spellweaver with Unicorn diorama is made of Lurien, Ghost and Unicorn from Reaper Miniatures. The base is and old flat resin base I bought somewhere I don't remember (4cmx4cm). The rest I've made myself using mostly cork, sand, wire and most importanly a cheap solution for making a water effect - silicon.

As you can see, the model is fully playable as Spellweaver on Unicorn or just a Spellweaver. Lurien is easily removable and due to silicon properties, she won't fall from the place prepared for her and the whole model is very gaming friendly.

I think of making a water effect tutorial using silicon, but it has to wait.

Click below for a 360° spin photo (Diorama only - I will post Spellweaver photos tomorrow).

Today I present you the last photos of my Bananalicious contest entries. The Spellweaver was converted from Lurien Ghost from Reaper Miniatures and Dryads bits and is a part of Diorama you can find here (http://thefantasyhammer.blogspot.com/20 ... n-360.html), but can also be used as an individual miniature.

Today I'm going to start a new big project, that not only requires a lot of time to finish and great self-denial, but is also rather expensive (at least for me). I hope I will manage to produce some great looking miniatures and to finish the project in time. I will reveal everything in the next post. =)

It's time to present my new project I have mentioned before - Chaos Daemons. With their new release and extremely chaotic rules, it wasn't long before I bought my first model - The Burning Chariot of Tzeentch. =)

As you can see, there is a new banner on the right - "MALARSKA AKTYWACJA" (PAINTING ACTIVATION). It's a multi-stage Polish painting competition that is going to run for 5 months, ending on the 21st of July. Each month is a single stage of competition, with different requirements and conditions. The purpose of the competition is to motivate players to paint as many model in a players army and ALL that were declared in each stage. You can declare to paint an army from one of many possible systems (WFB, WH:40k, Warmachines / Hordes, LoTR / Hobbit, Infinity, Flames of War, Spartan Games) and you get points for each single miniature based on a special chart. Also, you get bonus points if you manage to fulfil special conditions for each stage.

You are probably quite surprised to see this almost finished base for Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch, because it's definitely not the one from the previous post. I must confess, that a great disaster happened yesterday - I've tried to basecoat the previous base (made mostly from styrofoam) with Army Painter Uniform Grey Primer and watched, with tears in my eyes, as my hard work was literally melting in front of me.. I have almost always primed my models with an old Games Workshop Black Primer and such thing has never happened! =(

After a few minutes of loud curses and kicking random things in my room, I've decided to make an even better and definitely more solid base for the chariot and I think that the results were worth this bad experience. =)

The Exalted Flamer for Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch is almost finished. I've tried to paint him blue but a little different than the Screamers. I've also washed the purple/pink parts with a mix of washes (mostly Carrobourg Crimson). Do you think he needs any extra touches?

The Disc for Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch is almost ready (I still have to finish those Tzeentch eyes). I've struggled to achieve a nice looking gold on the Disc and I'm curious whether you like it or not?

I've promised some better pics of the Screamers, but this one here must suffice for now, because I don't have access to a good camera right now. =(

It took me forever to paint this (too many other responsibilities), but the flames for Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch are finally finished along with painting flames tutorial.

I wanted the fire to be very realistic and natural. Of course, it would be very fluffy to make it bluish and magical, but I wanted a nice contrast on the model. Anyway, I hope you like it. =) Cheers!

I'm sorry it took me so long to post this "painted" Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch, but it was a really crazy week and I've barely managed to finish painting this Chariot and Chaos Space Marines Rhino for Painting Activation Stage I. I say "painted", because I'm still not quite satisfied with a few things and will have to do some minor "upgrades". =)

As far as Rhino is concerned, I will show you some pictures later today or tomorrow together with a detailed weathering tutorial. Cheers!

A touch of rust.. Weathering tutorial

Just as I've promised, here is a weathering tanks tutorial using salt and a hair spray and without using an airbrush. =) You can see the end results above on a Mark Ib Mars Pattern Rhino painted in both Tzeentch and Ultramarines colors.

The Change.. CSM Tzeentch Rhino
Image
It was a very busy week and I've just barely managed to finish painting both Chaos Space Marines possessed Rhino of Tzeentch and Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch for Golden Vinci 2013 on http://dievincis.blogspot.com/ (I've entered Vehicles and Open categories).

Today I will only show you a few pictures of the "finished" Rhino. Why "finished"? If I had more time, I would definitely do some more detailed work on it, but overally I'm quite pleased with the results.

I will also give you a little explanation for this model, just in case you haven't seen WiP pictures of this Rhino and still wonder why I've made such a base for it. It's a Mark Ib Mars Pattern Rhino, which was converted to represent a possessed Chaos Space Marines Rhino of Tzeentch. The base (just as in my simultanous project - Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch, which I will show you tomorrow) is my way of representing ice / glacier, this time with the addition of some kind of daemonic lava (I will post a detailed tutorial soon). The lava is there to represent the arrival of daemons, that has destabilised the whole planet.

Of course, the hardest part was to paint the OSL on the base and on the Rhino itself. This is my first attempt at OSL and I must say that I like it. =) What do you think?

Daemonic device of Tzeentch..

The Chaos Daemons Burning Chariot of Tzeentch is finally finished. I've made some corrections and improvements, but unfortunately didn't have time for OSL, which would require quite a lot of work on this particualr model. =) What do you think?

I must say that it was a really challenging but also a very satisfying painjtob. As for the model istself, this Burning Chariot is not only such a greatly sculpted miniature, but there are also so many useful bits inside the box and options for conversions, that I'm definitely going to buy another one someday. =)

If you are still considering buying this Burning Chariot kit, I will give you a short review: for its price, you get 1 Exalted Flamer (you can use him as a Pyromancer), 2 Screamers, 1 Herald and 1 Disc of Tzeentch. Yes! there are 2 small discs to choose when assembling the Chariot and it's very easy to convert one of them into a Disc of Tzeentch! Games Workshop really did a great job with this model!
