Firstly, thankyou all for your comments and suggestions. I really do like getting comments, so if you read this, please comment! ^_^ I like the attention.

Alright then, finished my colour test archer model. I always do a colour test before I do my r'n'f models. Easier to see how they'll turn out that way. I've coloured it using Catachan Green and Scorched Brown for the most part. The 'loincloth' at the bottom is painted using Liche Purple. Each model in the squad has a purple cloth. The other squad will have a red/orange cloth. You might notice the base. I've made sure each base in the squad can be arranged in such a way as to look like a single base.

Personally, I think the second picture is the easiest pic to see it in.

The only thing wrong with this is possibly the skin tone. I think it makes more sense to have pale Wood Elves because they dont see half as much light as their other brethren because of all the treetop canopy blockin out the light. Maybe you could consider a highlighting of Elf Flesh on the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Then maybe very light drybrush with bleached bone on nose. Disregard all this if you intended on having a dark skinned elf of course. ;) . The skin is very well blended though.

I like the Purple cloth. It adds much needed variation from the usual green/brown camo colours of traditional WE. The copper trimmings on the bow and shoulder pad are also a nice breaker up of the colours.

Nice Work and I hope to see more of your work soon. Got any Dryads?

Dryad pictures on page 1.

The skin colour looks like that because I ran out of ALL my skin colours. So in the end I mixed up my Scorched Brown, Desert Yellow, and Tentacle Pink and hoped for the best.

Anyways, the bases all rank up.
Here's a picture of said bases. They're in the process of gluing the flock on (hence the white under the flock) and haven't been varnished yet.

Personally, I love it.

The purple loin clothes are a nice touch, which gives some contrast and individuality. I like the skin too, it makes them look less human, which is good IMHO. The hands could use a little more highlighting by the look of it, but that could be the camera.

My favorite part is the base, though. Scenic bases (especially water ones) are awesome, especially when the form a landscape when ranked up. It makes them look less like guys on astroturf, and more like guys on a battlefield. They also make the models easier to rank up when deploying, as you know how the unit fits together.

The theme is great too, although a bit soapy, like you said. ;)

Great work, be sure to post more pics when you get stuff done.

Awesome GG model! I positively love it. The dryads are very nice to, and as said if you keep up this standard - your army will rock!

Yes, purple is a superb choice for a contrast colour. Very nice work on the cloaks there!

I take it you do our bases before attatching the models? Do you not find they don't stick to the base as well?

I have never had a problem with that. I also paint my figures in parts, not preglued. All you have to do is get a file or even a nail and scratch the paint off of the surface you wish to glue. The more uneven the better, because it gets a better grip.

And thank you everyone for the comments, they mean so much to me. Right now, I don't think I'll be painting for a while. I need to file the mold lines from all my pieces. All I have left to do is the Glade Rider test model, which I'll do when I'm finished with the Glade Guard filing.

Thanks again!

Hi Foxtale,

Great paintjob. I really like it. I have about the same colourscheme (like my elves dark). I especially like the face.

Why thankyou. The scythe was made using the two-handed Glade Rider spear, combined with a dryad arm.

And thankyou for the comment Karacis. Much appreciated ^_^

Oh, I put the Glade Guard up on coolminiornot like suggested, and apparently it isn't as good as I thought. 6.3/10

Awesome model! I might have to get me one of those, looks a lot better than a Witch Elf would, I think.. Hmm have to ponder this.

Anyway thanks :)

Nice paintjob. I like how you've modelled the scythe, very woodish. I'll make mine bit different tought.

On the WE mage...cool model but the /,,/ hand is bit weird...

I like the Spyglass mini except I'm not sure she's a sorceress looks more like someone from a black metal concert.

That Spyglass mini looks like a "Rock'n"Roll Druid" hehe. However, she totally, absolutely looks Wood Elvish, so I think she will look awesome in your WE army.

It's funny because she looks more wood elven than the GW models. I think it's the lack of clothes, but the one thing wrong with her isn't the hand (which could well be casting a spell or something and that's what I like about the model) but rather the hair, which hasn't exactly been modelled well. I think I will have to remodel it somehow.

Just goes to show that Wood Elves rock.

Thats not a stupid question Exploid, in fact I think its excellent :)

Anyway I dont agree about the hair looking poorly sculpted, the only thing with it is that it looks fresh-cut. It doesnt go well with her "wild" look.

And the hand - check the HE mages out ;) Elves just dig rock n roll!

Scale is 28mm, just like most, if not all of their miniatures. Still, it's best to email them asking if the model is 28mm or not first.

And a trick: if you want to know if it really is 28mm, ask them what scale it is. If you ask a shopkeeper "is it 28mm scale" then they might say yes just to make the sale. Same with "is it 25mm scale". But if you ask, "what scale is it in milimeters?" Then you'll get a guaranteed truthful answer.

With the hair, I might just add some extra 'wild' hairs to make her look more wood elven.
