Casting During Combat
So yesterday during a game, whilst tided up in a challenge with my TMA, a Demon Prince was casting Direct Damage spells at my spell weaver and her bunker. Is this legit? I couldn't find any rule forbidding it, but it seems like he shouldn't be able to effect another unit while in combat, and especially during a challenge.

Re: Casting During Combat
Challenges only happen during close combat and spells can be cast into or out of close combat, depending on the spell and line of sight. So no problem there, assuming he had line of sight and/or the proper spell type. Generally magic missiles are the only restricted spells for casting out of close combat.
Well, my ideas for the next book turned out to be a bust.
But it was still fun working on something of this scale.

That's what I figured, just adds arc of visibility as a consideration when getting my TMA into a challenge.

Re: Casting During Combat
I'm confused by this. The BRB states, "Wizards cannot target spells at units engaged in close combat." Yet I frequently see tactica about casting spells on units in combat. Has this been fix in an errata or something?Shandrakor wrote:spells can be cast into or out of close combat

Re: Casting During Combat
I think that only Augment & Hex spells can be cast onto units in combat.
I'm not sure what you can cast out of combat, augment, hex & DD ...I think!? I'm not sure where you can get information to back that up though sorry.

The information is in the back of the main rulebook in the index pages. It even has a handy chart which tells you everything you need to know. like if you can cast into combat, out of combat, forward arcs, etc

It does. It's an awesome chart, all the different spell types and requirements with Y/N designations. I was just looking at it yesterday, and I was like, "wow, there are a looot of rules governing the targeting of spells..."Blackcat wrote:The information is in the back of the main rulebook in the index pages. Be aware that there are typos in it. Check the Errata :-)
