Simple enough question :

Can the Lore of Metal hurt Treekin/Treemen?

thanks for the answers,

I bet Unicorn's first!

By the RAW it can. It is extremely stupid but true. They should have put out a errata or faq a LONG time ago which indicates that those spells don't work on things with "Scaly Skin," or at the very least... the Scaly skin component of their overall armor save doesn't count.

What's RAW, except for ' raw meat in unhealthy ' I'm quite unfamiliar with the term.

RAW is short for "rules as written" while RAI is short for "rules as intended." The second one doesn't really matter because RAI is always subjective. RAW is black and white.

Yep.

3+ to wound Treemen, no AS or Ward Save.
4+ to wound Treekin, no AS or Ward Save.
Can't hurt the Dryads though.

Oh yeah, it's Flaming so take 2x please...

Man oh man, Tree Spirits need a true Ward Save.

Did your opponent take Metal Lore knowing he was playing you, it's normally vary rare to see in an "all-comers" list. I've made an Empire list with some Handguns hoping for the Enchanted Blades (+1 to hit) and Greatswords for Glittering Robe (Scaly Skin 5+ for 2+ Armor Save) but normally it's Light.

I am not online 24/7, more likely once or twice per day :D

Anyway, the answer to your question is - yes, it can. By fluff, it makes no sense, but by rules, it is clear case.

Fluff is a bit wonky there, but I think it should be there for hydras, lizardmen, and such(tree spirits don't need the hit). I personally run Lore of Metal quite often with my Dark Elves.
